I might be able to help you out. What is it that you are working on? 

The old one seems dead, so I though I would start a new one. We'll discuss and share info on Software, Equipment, mix down, signal processing, ect I'm an audio engineer btw.

I always EQ, than compress as well... Have you tried side chain compression? Use the kick as the input on the compressor you have on te bass. Every time the kick hits it will attenuate the bass. That should help.
