Virgil did capture a lot of attention in the street wear market. Personally I don't like the over branding on everything. He has had a couple items I liked that were more minimalistic but the price tag was the same or higher then the brands I favor more.

The DCS is faster and more fuel efficient. You don't need to be in a larger car to appreciate that. It all comes down to driver preference. It's certainly more driver involvement to drive a manual, whether that is more fun or less fun depends on the situation.
I've haven't had any issues with the zippers on my SLP products. Probably rare overall but if you buy from the boutique, they repair their goods free of charge pretty much anytime. I had the snap replaced in my 3 year old Wyatt boots no charge, even a pair I didn't buy from them.
