First time Going to the Gym

So I just go and work........out?

I feel very uneasy about this.

tips for a first timer, Ive worked out before at home but the gym seems so public

it's all the same, everyone's there to do the same thing, it's a good atmosphere for the most part. there's always a few ignorant people, kindof like forums in a way. you'll probably enjoy it.
 
If you went to high school and took P.E or Weight Training then you should not feel uncomfortable. They're basically the same except they're somecomplete strangers and some a lot older or younger.
 
Nters need to be baby sat on almost every subject. What's so hard to figure out about going to the gym? You go, work out.. shower if you want, then leave.
 
well the first thing you'll need is a good work out outfit.

Something breathable and durable but practical.

bring a towel, don't stare at dudes who out lift you, don't try and give anybody advice about their workout, and be skeptical about taking any.
 
Just mind your own business. Don't let the big dudes intimidate you. And keep an eye out on the hot chicks wearing spandex.

But for real...
Dont sweat it, people there will be cool. No ones going to judge you, if thats what you're worried about. You're there for the same reason as them.Except for the ones who go just to talk with friends and what not and show out for the women.
If you need a spotter, ask someone who you know can help you if you need it. I just use machines since theres not a lot of people when I go in.
 
go in knowing what you are doing so you wont waste time walking around looking lost. its actually a friendly place to meet people when you keep going andseeing the same faces. i sometimes ask people to help spot me and stuff when im lifting.
 
You just go and do your thing...bring a towel and water/sports drink. Just do your own thing, whatever it is...most people in there are cool. If you need tofocus and want to avoid random conversationalists, bring your iPod too
 
Have a routine/program worked out in your mind before you go. I hate dudes who look mad lost and clueless in the gym hopping from one bench to the next,deracking your weights for one set and stuff.

I don't want to quote your pic, once is enough. But you ain't lying, anything tighter will make you not look tough.


To OP, just do your thing. WHY worry about other people, it's your money and time that will make you successful on your goal. If you doing weights thoughthat need assist, you better get some help from your homeboys that you brought along, or ask a stranger, hopefully he won't feel like you're taking uphis time to work out.
 
dont just stand there if you want to be using a machine or bench that someone is using.. initiate conversation to either work in sets in between their rest orask how much longer you got.
 
Make a lot of noise when you lift, try and talk to all the hot women, walk around like you're too big, flex in the mirror after every set, wear an ipod andsing the lyrics outloud from time to time, never wipe down machines or put weights back.

really tho ive hooked up with 3 chicks i met at the gym, and ive only been at this one for about 6 months, so they def dont be fakin.

just find a good work out routine, take your MP3 player, and get it in.
