^^^ thats what im talking about homeboy... as much i like ec music besides the o.g's the best new thing theyve got is saigon & joell ortiz :. the westbeen poppin just cuz they aint on the radio & tv dont mean they aint poppin u gotta keep ur ears open Blu, Strong Arm Steady, Planet Asia, Crooked, ChaceInfinite, Evidence, Bishop Lamont, Slo Mo, Sick Jacken & Sick Symphonies... i never really liked southern music except for Face & UGK but Right Now TheD is killin it too Guilty, Black Milk, Fat Ray, Elzhi, 5'9, Mr. Porter:.
 
West Coast just doesn't have as many lyrical dudes to compete...but Ice Cube is better than a lot of these/those East coast dudes...and as of right nowCrooked would Murder just about ANYBODY from the EAST on a track...

To me it has always been east > west.

I'm not trying to say west doesn't have any classics but I like that grimey New York sound way more.
 
the west sold a lot of records in the early 90's,but none of their artists can compete with the New York cats from that era. word to Gangstarr
 
Why cant everyone take it in context, I have lived in MIA, LA, BK and now Jamaica. Music simply captures the essence of the area, I cant ride round Hollywoodon a sunny day bumpin Joe Budden--gotta be some DJQuick or DPG. Nor can I be hollering at shortys on White Plains listening to Crooked I, gotta be Max B orFrench Montana... Down south is a different lifestyle, so while Im smoking dirty I gotta listen to Trick...

Let's talk currently the West has BLu and Astonish...and I guess U-N-I Eascoast...Kid Cudi, Wale, Corey Gunz, that one cuz that is in the Cipha with MickeyFactz, Joell Ortiz, the list goes on, and lets not talk about up and coming(Soulja Slim, I think his name is) DC is coming up in this crazy world, then you gotPeedi Crakk and The Young Gunz.

That's foolish because you can't lump the Chi together with any of those regions, they have their own unique style representative of theirregion (the midwest).

THANK THE LORD someone else said it before me because I wouldn't have been as pleasant. We have pretty much been the dominant force behind Good Music (nopun intended) for the past ummmmm iono 4yrs now. to lump us with any other coast is insulting considering that for the longest we were considered the stepchild and weren't taken seriously. Now we have thee most talented and diverse music being presented out.

That's very true....

You got good %*$+ comin' out of the South, but for the past couple of years, no single city has been @@$@*$' with Chicago as far as quality andconsistency...
 
East. hands down.

and I'm from Cali.

But the West has some nice underground lately.
