I think this isn't as good of an album as people make it look, but it's still a fantastic CD.

What skippable tracks are you referring to?
Izzo
Girls,Girls,Girls
Jigga That N___
Hola Hovito
An easier question is what tracks are actually listenable to... for me it's only Takeover. Sometimes I'll let Renegade play just to think about how overrated the verses on it are.
Why you trying so hard to front for?
Rumor has it "The Blueprint" classic
Couldn't even be stopped by Bin Laden
So September 11th marks the era forever
of a revolutionary Jay Guevero
Now it's a whole museum of, Hov' MCers
Everybody dupin the flow, you see 'em
Everybody loopin up soul
self explanatory.
appreciated.
[M.E.B.]Yeah yeah yeah...all that is perfectly logical and all but so what, it's still garbage cuz my one opinion outweighs the consensus overthe past 9 years that says BP is one of the best albums ever. Duh. [M.E.B.]Originally Posted by abeautifulhaze

I personally think a few classic albums are ovverated...but they're still classic albums.
My opinion doesn't negate their influence, sales, impact and millions of fans...
This was the most influential album since it dropped.
I could never understand how some people don't like Izzo.
Me neither.
Never even heard it be mentioned as a bad song til i came to NT.
I honestly dont think half the dudes that say it's "whack" "commercial" or whatever, even believe that. If anything, they just say itbecause it's the popular thing to say on NT.
One thing i've noticed about NT, a lot of dudes go with the "popular" opinion instead of their own true feeling.
and another thing, Izzo is not as commercial as ya'll are making it seem. commercial in a sense that it was a single, yes. commercial substance in thesong, HELL NO!
"Hov is back. Life story told thru rap.._s acting like I sold you crack. Like I told you sell drugs...no Hov did that so hopefully you wouldn't have to go through that. I was raised in the projects, roaches and rats. Smokers out back, selling their mommas sofa. Lookouts on the corner, focused on the Ave. Ladies in the window focused on the kinfolk. Me under a lamp post...why I got my hands close?...Cracks in my palm. Watching the long arm of the law...so you know I seen it all before. I seen hoops dreams deflate like a true fiends weight...."
Nothing about that screams commercial to me
actually, I love Izzo. i shouldn't have said "nonsense."Originally Posted by abeautifulhaze

One of my favorite tracks on the album.
I think anything that has a hit video to it nowadays is chalked up as wack.

So Marcy
If that commercial nonsense...I wish more MCs spit that commercial s_.
And I didn't say that the album was as good as Illmatic...I said it is classic in the same way as Illmatic as far as the cohesion and the feel.
There are probably 1000 + clones of Song Cry alone....Originally Posted by M16

How the hell was this influential, let alone the "most influential" ... ? I see this thrown around all the time. Explain.

It's a billion reasons to skip a song. ONE reason and ONE person doing so doesn't take ANY credit away from the song or the artist, or thealbum itself. You hater types tend to scale your opinions pretty lopsidedly. It's as if you know there's onlyone of you per 100 supporters so you feel your opinion has to be 101x heavier than a positive one, or you'll never win the argument. then ya'll hidebehindOriginally Posted by The Natural Mystic

How many MCs have talked back to the sample voice in the chorus recently?
"This ain't the Take Over Lil homie its that take down..."
"Do ya lilazz like Jay did Mobb Deep"
There are thousands of references to this damn album amongst his peers alone.
Don't you claim to know Hip-Hop?
Would the Fix even sound like the Fix if this album ain't drop?
Jay gave these producers a platform and showed what can be done with this type of production and how to do it....G-Unit and Dipset also owe a large part of their mixtape success to this sound also. Everyone as riding the wave for a good 2-3 years.

Ya know, I don't know what it is with this album. I look at the track list and say "wow" and then I listen to it and I'm just not satisfied. Maybe my ears are defective? I'm trying to force the BP on myself and it just ain't working. I'm a big fan of Jay too, I don't know what it is..
Indeed.Originally Posted by abeautifulhaze

If having a skippable song takes albums out of classic contention....that list of classic albums just got a whole lot shorter...in all genres of music.
Classic =/= Perfect.
Plus whats skippable to you, is someone elses favorites song.
