Blueprint Appreciation.

at you if you can't appreciate tracks like All of Me, Heart of the City, and Song Cry.

I think this isn't as good of an album as people make it look, but it's still a fantastic CD.

Izzo
Girls,Girls,Girls
Jigga That N___
Hola Hovito

An easier question is what tracks are actually listenable to... for me it's only Takeover. Sometimes I'll let Renegade play just to think about how overrated the verses on it are.

Why you trying so hard to front for?

Only dudes fronting are those calling this a "classic"

Hate it or love it....its still a classic album.

I personally think a few classic albums are ovverated...but they're still classic albums.

My opinion doesn't negate their influence, sales, impact and millions of fans...

This was the most influential album since it dropped.

How can a majority be fronting? Are you trying to make sense, or jut saying how you feel in a brash, unapologetic....... wait, you're Mid EastBeast aren't you? Never mind. That's like trying to poor water into a crystal ball. Do as you do....

Classic because of sales .... just stop. Millions of fans ? .... just stop.

How the hell was this influential, let alone the "most influential" ... ? I see this thrown around all the time. Explain.

Rumor has it "The Blueprint" classic
Couldn't even be stopped by Bin Laden
So September 11th marks the era forever
of a revolutionary Jay Guevero
Now it's a whole museum of, Hov' MCers
Everybody dupin the flow, you see 'em
Everybody loopin up soul
self explanatory.

appreciated.

[M.E.B.]Yeah yeah yeah...all that is perfectly logical and all but so what, it's still garbage cuz my one opinion outweighs the consensus overthe past 9 years that says BP is one of the best albums ever. Duh. [M.E.B.]

It ain't no damn classic. How can it be the most complete album if you have to skip a song? Where is the logic in that? Good album but it ain't no damnclassic, stop overrating it.

I could never understand how some people don't like Izzo.
Me neither.

Never even heard it be mentioned as a bad song til i came to NT.
grin.gif

I honestly dont think half the dudes that say it's "whack" "commercial" or whatever, even believe that. If anything, they just say itbecause it's the popular thing to say on NT.

One thing i've noticed about NT, a lot of dudes go with the "popular" opinion instead of their own true feeling.

and another thing, Izzo is not as commercial as ya'll are making it seem. commercial in a sense that it was a single, yes. commercial substance in thesong, HELL NO!
ohwell.gif

"Hov is back. Life story told thru rap.._s acting like I sold you crack. Like I told you sell drugs...no Hov did that so hopefully you wouldn't have to go through that. I was raised in the projects, roaches and rats. Smokers out back, selling their mommas sofa. Lookouts on the corner, focused on the Ave. Ladies in the window focused on the kinfolk. Me under a lamp post...why I got my hands close?...Cracks in my palm. Watching the long arm of the law...so you know I seen it all before. I seen hoops dreams deflate like a true fiends weight...."
Nothing about that screams commercial to me

One of my favorite tracks on the album.

I think anything that has a hit video to it nowadays is chalked up as wack.

If that commercial nonsense...I wish more MCs spit that commercial s_.

And I didn't say that the album was as good as Illmatic...I said it is classic in the same way as Illmatic as far as the cohesion and the feel.
actually, I love Izzo. i shouldn't have said "nonsense."

all i was trying to say was that it was commercial, so it's not a good comparison to Illmatic that has no commercial songs. every song on Illmatic has a"classic" feel, and i don't get the same feeling with BP.

There are probably 1000 + clones of Song Cry alone....

How many MCs have talked back to the sample voice in the chorus recently?

"This ain't the Take Over Lil homie its that take down..."

"Do ya lilazz like Jay did Mobb Deep"

There are thousands of references to this damn album amongst his peers alone.

Don't you claim to know Hip-Hop?

Would the Fix even sound like the Fix if this album ain't drop?

Jay gave these producers a platform and showed what can be done with this type of production and how to do it....G-Unit and Dipset also owe a large part oftheir mixtape success to this sound also. Everyone as riding the wave for a good 2-3 years.

How? You already answered your own question. It's not like people bought the album because of a ring tone or a gimmick dance like acts today. the leadsingle had HOOD lyrics and a Jackson 5 soul sample. It wasn't "catchy" rhymes and 808 "boom baps". Its good music man,and it touched A LOT of people for a reason. For instance, Never Change is my personal theme song. It's my anthem for who I am and how I get down. Butanyway, I explained the significance already but you don't want to get it. You want to argue, but you just ran out of an argument. Now you're asking me to repeat myself hoping you can find another point toargue against
grin.gif
. I ain't dumb, I been swimming in these waters for 5 years now. You'd have to have a personal vendetta against Jay-Z to not feelthis album.

It's a billion reasons to skip a song. ONE reason and ONE person doing so doesn't take ANY credit away from the song or the artist, or thealbum itself. You hater types tend to scale your opinions pretty lopsidedly. It's as if you know there's onlyone of you per 100 supporters so you feel your opinion has to be 101x heavier than a positive one, or you'll never win the argument. then ya'll hidebehind

like it's kevlar and grenades.

Word.

If having a skippable song takes albums out of classic contention....that list of classic albums just got a whole lot shorter...in all genres of music.

Classic =/= Perfect.

Plus whats skippable to you, is someone elses favorites song.

The difference in a hater and a supporter: Haters speak for themselves and project onto many; supporters speak for themselves on behalf ofmany.

Ya know, I don't know what it is with this album. I look at the track list and say "wow" and then I listen to it and I'm just not satisfied.Maybe my ears are defective? I'm trying to force the BP on myself and it just ain't working. I'm a big fan of Jay too, I don't know what itis..

I'll give the production some credit, and yeah, it's mentioned in a lot of songs, but come on. You gonna give him credit for making a love song.. as ifno one ever done one before ? It was done much better by others. His influence of some mainstream lames is really worth mention ? Just stop. It's nothingmore than the average big album, a lot of dudes in the industry respect Jay-Z by default, so obviously it's gonna get love. Source 5 mics is just anexample. It was definitely not top 5 of 2001... not even top 10 if you ask me. Look at the blueprints so called influence and look back to some realinfluential albums... before AND after it... we had albums redefine entire subgenres, redefine flow, redefine what it meant to be a lyricist... what it meantto even be a rapper... expand what hip hop would touch upon... put entire regions on the map... and you wanna talk about the blueprint being most influential.I'm sorry, that's just funny and sad to me.
