No, stop giving it to the full back on 4th and inches. AD is in purple for a reason. Use him.

What more will it take for you guys to like him? Superbowl?
A single playoff game would be a nice start.

I don't mind it. They're winning, and regardless of how they got to this point, he's progressively led this team to a better record with eachsuccessive year. A few more years won't hurt, besides, one horrible season amidst this contract would make it all null and void anyway. Contracts meannothing in the NFL.

Any coach would be winning with the talent on this roster. A few more years absolutely could hurt. The window for a championship is open now. Who knows howlong that will last. Why not wait until after the playoffs to see if he can actually win a game when it counts? That's something that would not have hurt.I just don't get it.

I'm in the same boat as SFN...

Yes, the Vikings' record has gotten progressively better since Childress arrived here in 2006. Well actually we were 9-7 in 2005, so technically he reallyhadn't improved the team since from the Tice era until 2008. But under his control the team improved every season...

This team is winning despite of him though. His clock management is absolutely awful, play-calling has been questionable, and does anyone remember that gameagainst Tennessee last year where he had Kluwe go out there at the end of the game and punt the ball on fourth down after the two minute warning, w/ no timeouts, and down by 7? I mean...what the hell is that? He admitted after the game that he had made a huge blunder with that. That type of thing is just notacceptable in the NFL, and REALLY not acceptable when you have a team that has the talent get a birth in the Super Bowl or at least deep into the playoffs...

I'm constantly wondering to myself what a proven winner like Bill Cowher could do with this roster....

But no.

We have Brad Childress

One thing I find funny about some fans though...

Chilly brings in Jackson, and he's an idiot because the team struggles with that QB.

Chilly brings in Farve, and he's still an idiot and they are only winning because Favre is there.

...

I don't like him as a coach...but a lot of the players he personally went out of his way to get and then brought in have worked out very well for us. I will give him props for that.

Who else besides Favre? And from what I've heard Favre was only interested in the first place because of Bevell and Longwell. I think the biggest reasonsfor personnel upgrades have been a combination of the Wilfs opening up the pocket book, Spielman's maneuvering, and luck.

I think TJ can still be a good QB, but he has been handled terribly.

The talent-laden roster can be tied to Zygi, and that's it. I hated Red McCombs with a passion and I believe if Tice or Denny would have had the deeppockets, they would still be here. Aight maybe not Denny, but definitely Tice. I actually liked Tice a lot, other than the Randy ratio.

I'm not as optimistic as the rest of you - TJ doesn't look serviceable to me, and that's my main gripe with Chilly. He traded up to get someone that many didn't even have on their boards, he's handled him horribly, and he's being saved rightnow by Brett. But after this season, or possibly next, when Brett is gone, now what?

Childress wanted Allen, it was Childress who wanted Harvin, and it was Childress who wanted Berrian. IMO Childress built this team, Wilf just paid for it.

Yeah, Childress wanted Allen. However, it wasn't initially his idea to go after Allen, he wasn't the one that made the trade happen, he didn't havethe final decision, and he wasn't the one who locked Allen up.

Percy was "his guy" but he didn't really get any argument from anyone else involved in the decision when Percy fell to them. Tarvaris and GusFrerotte were also "his guys".

Berrian hasn't contributed much to this team's success.

Brad's problem is not personnel decisions. The guy is a bad game day coach.

Is anybody concerned with Peterson's fumble problems? This team, although blowing out many teams, albeit some bad teams, has so much work to do. It'seasy to say that we all like how this season has started, but it seems to me that the biggest issue, which might prove to be glaring factors come playoff time,is undoubtedly coaching.

Two areas of focus need to be AP's fumblitis and the penalties. These, to me, can be helped and/or corrected if Childress were a better coach. The fumblingis mainly on Adrian, and I'm not sure if they work on that in practice, but it should be that if AP keeps fumbling that he needs to be aware that the coachwould/could/should bench him. There is nothing respectable, even with Peterson, about nurturing your star player when he continues to put the ball on the turf.

Secondly, a certain aspect of focus and discipline seems to be left out at times during games. The Vikings, namely Childress, need to instill a culture ofdiscipline with regards to penalties. This team will only be a flash in the pan, until a new culture of winning is in place, or else this is just a quick runbefore a monumental collapse.

Other than that, this team looks poised to make a serious run. I'm still kinda hoping they get brought down to earth with a game that allows them torefocus, even though it would be nice to win out. I just feel that they've been blowing out bad teams of late, and they forgot how hard the NFL can be, andif some of these things don't improve, we could be looking at another heartbreaking year.

Thoughts?

P.S. - I'm mad at AP so my avy will be changed to my boy Winfield for the foreseeable future.

I just hope we lock up homefield... I don't mind seeing us even on the road in NO. At least it's indoors...

unless the line starts blocking better ... this team will lose to cards or saints ... not a good match up for yall in secondary ...

^Yeah, our secondary is doo doo. The INTs they have are sometimes just pure luck of being in the right spot at the right time. Winfield is awesome, buthe's more of a run stopper. We need a big time DB

Positive note - That blowout of the Giants might have done the trick to fully restore the confidence of this team to realize that they are the best.

Concerns -

- Ball security AP!

- Can Winfield hang one on one with the receivers he might see, or will he get burned giving up big plays?

- Childress' playcalling.

Those are my main three concerns regarding this team going into the playoffs. Feel free to express yours.

P.S. - JPZx...You should create an Official Vikings playoff thread or something. I haven't had hardly anytime at all to keep up with my own threads and youcan update more frequently. Today I'm just lucky to have a day off.

Winfield won't be covering many people one on one unless his ankle is completely healed. If it's not, he'll only play the nickel back like in theGiants game. The other two things are a real concern. If this team can play up to their potential, they can win it all. They haven't done that much thisyear though.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, because there are a lot of pass heavy teams in the playoffs. You know the Saints and Cardinals are good for 40attempts against Minnesota and Green Bay throws the ball well despite people in Rodgers' face. Philly will air it out too.

Dallas, Green Bay, or Arizona? Who do we want? I could careless at this point today, I'm pumped. It's gonna be a great game and I'm happy we'refinally back in the playoffs in as a top seed, no heartbreak considered.

All three teams are threats. In a lot of years, teams with byes can cheer for certain #6 and #5 seeds that snuck into the playoffs in hopes ofcrushing them in the division round. For example, the 1998 Arizona Cardinals led by the mistake prone Jake Plummer (just watched that game the other day

). There's really no team like that in the NFC this year. It's pretty wideopen.

When Tony Romo plays mistake free football the Cowboys are damn scary. Plus, everyone knows that TEs are an achilles heel for our defense. We frequently allowbig days to star TEs and and even no-name TEs on occassion.

Aaron Rodgers has his team playing at an incredibly high level right now. Just think, if not for that last second pass from Roethlisberger-to-Wallace in WK15the Packers would be on an 8 game winning streak right now. It seems like that loss to us and then the Buccaneers really sparked their season unfortunately.

The Cardinals showed last year how good they can be when they're playing at their peak. I'm hearing that there's a strong chance they will bewithout Boldin on Sunday, which I think will be a major factor in whether or not they win or lose the ball game. With that in mind, if they do win and Arizonaends up coming into Minneapolis with a still ailing Anquan Boldin and he doesn't play, that would ease a lot of my fears in going up against them. I mean,we saw in WK12 how physical this guy can be and how tough he is to catch when he finds open field. Some very impressive grabs in that game as well against us.I think we'd be able to contain Fitzgerald and Breaston. And who's the Cardinals TE....Leonard Pope? Not worried one bit about him.

So to answer your question...

I'd say

1. Cardinals
2. Packers (there's a slight chance we could meet in the NFC Championship Game...and just think for a moment how incredibly big and intense that would be
eek.gif
)
3. Cowboys

Vikings-Packers...

Makes me smile because either Favre finally gets his last revenge, or Favre, having thought he had revenge ends up losing to GB for theSB. That's fun, but if GB were to win I'd probably have a remote sized hole in my T.V. and not even feel bad.

I'm on the same page as you with Arizona, but that's only at face value...They really scare me, but so do the other teams. I'm putting GB third, because they make me super nervous given the circumstances and if they were to meet I'd think it has to be in the NFC Championship.

Essentially what I'm saying is that as of right now I have no logical reasoning because as you stated, it's so wide open and there are no scrub, luckof the draw teams, and for that I'm excited for great football and no excuses when Minny gets to the SB.

Doesn't matter who they play. I think they can beat and lose to every team in the NFC. If they show up motivated and hold onto the ball, they'll beatevery team. If they don't, they'll lose to anyone.
