If any of you had the chance to chat with or ask questions of the Global Merchandising Head of the Nike/NBA deal what would you say?

Don't cut corners on authentics. People will always want to buy the real thing. If the retail authentic version is not like the game worn, people will not shell out the $ for it.

Jerseys were split into replica/authentic to cater to the 2 kinds of fans. Currently its more like replica/$300 replica.

Make authentic below $150 again but that ain't happening..
What baffles me is, if no one was buying it over $150 they'd put the price back at $150.  So someone is paying the $300 retail.  At least enough people such that they are making more money than they were at $150.  I just can't figure out who these people are who are buying the jerseys.  I don't buy them anymore.  Does anyone in here buy them anymore, I mean for retail price from NBA.com?

This!!

I certainly wouldn't pay $300 for a jersey, even if I were filthy rich (hmm, unless it's a rare game worn or game issued jersey).

If hoop-style advertised it as a game worn, it's most likely a game worn.

I just bought from hoop-style last week. No complaints other than the fact he didn't do priority shipping.

Yes

I know someone will mention inflation but how did the authentic jump directly from $180 to $300?

Swingman only jumped up $30

This is why I don't even entertain nba authentics anymore. Garbage quality and horrible pricing. Even at $200 people won't be buying them up like crazy but $100 says dales would improve

It is feasible

What are these authentics made of to warrant a $300 price tag

The jerseys can easily cost $150-175 again

With rumors of all sorts of Nike tech like Flyknit and such going into jerseys I can see Nike charging whatever they want.

if the NBA is going to allow nike to charge $150 for those hyper elite styled shorts (thin paper like material) :x :smh:

Nike college stuf is complete trash

And keep in mind NFL authentics are $295 for very thick high quality full sleeved jerseys

No way Nike can justify selling thin tank tops for $300

U less of course they raise the price of NFL authentics another $50 for no reason like they did a year or two ago

don't the teams also have a saying in the materials??? I really like the current materials from Adidas for the authentic shorts and jerseys!

in the 90s the replicas were like USD 50, the authentics around USD 120 and I can not really remember if they sold pro cuts back then!

Depends on the jersey. The 96 All Star I'm sure if dropped instead of the 96 Finals would happily pay $300. I'm passing on the 96 Finals. Give me the 92 and 93 All Star jerseys and I'm straight.

The pro cut craze pretty much started in the 90s with Champion 1992-93 UDA signed Jordans and the 1993-94 Commemorative Collection. I believe for the 1995-96 season you could order all the superstar pro cuts via catalog and UDA sold signed versions of the sick pinstripe Jordans and Pennys.

I'm thinking maybe not, because Adidas did do that whole Revolution 30 back in 2010 for every team.
