🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

Idk man...I can't say I'm listening to Drake for lyrics

And what's the deal with fickle rap fans?

Quick to pull that "it's not lyrical" for a BANGERS only tape

But then listen to someone like Lupe and not say a word, people out here not saying "where the bangers at Lupe?"

People who say "hip hop is dead" but listen to Young Thug and not Common or someone like that
"Idk man...I can't say I'm listening to Drake for lyrics" nobody wants to keep it real like that. if i had reps id give u 1 right now. thank u for saying this.

however, you cant say with a straight face this album is bangers only. theres maybe 6 or 7 bangers. 1 of em has been out for weeks already from waynes mixtape. yall gotta remember theres SEVENTEEN tracks on this thing and everyone is mentionin the same 5 or so.

and again, your point still stands. you dont listen to drake for lyrics. u dont go to lupe for trunk bangers. his album will be better than this, but thats by default.

So we can all come to a common consensus that Drake has the crown, right?

Crown of what? Drake needs to be careful, he's closer to being on Future and Party Next Door's level and not an elite rapper like some of you call him.

Just listened to the mixtape . **** with it heavy mostly car music . The hardest collection of music he's out out (not lyrically his best but just the tone of the music was hard) .

Can't wait on the actual album

I'm not even really a Drake fan like that but it's absurd to say that he's not nice on the mic.

I hate Lebron but I'm not one of those idiots that says he isn't the best player in the NBA.

As as far as mainstream rap goes...Drake is elite. I don't know what that "he isn't lyrical" **** is about.

As a grown man...now I understand the debates I used to have w/ older heads about Jay-Z. They used to say the **** about him that people say about Drake now.

There's a million reasons NOT to like dude...but there's no way in hell you can say that he can't rap.

Drake can definitely rap, there's no doubt about that. But to say he deserves the crown is absurd. There are rappers out there who could rap circles around dude, but 85% of this thread probably haven't even listened to them.

Again Mural > Drakes career from a rapping standpoint.

Nobody knows who the **** that is.

That's why I said MAINSTREAM. People who are known to the LARGEST of audiences.

There's a billion people that actually rap...so you can always find someone that raps better than the next. That's not rocket science.

There's probably some ***** in the projects better than Lebron...but millions of people will never know that.

this is so funny because it illustrates how little some of yall know. dude said mural > drakes discography. victor says nobody knows who that is

mural is a ridiculous song by lupe off the album. and mural made a pretty big splash. if drake dropped the song mural, theyd be saying hes top 5 lyricists ever.

Nobody knows who Lupe Fiasco is?

Wow.....

Listen to more than what the media feeds you bro, you're just making yourself sound ignorant.

Drake can rap but he's far from elite. I would never put him in a top 5 category. Way too many nursery rhymes. Basic *** bars.

Drake may not be on the Gawd level with Ye, Jay, and Nas but dude chilling in the throne room unlike the rest of these rapper. Doesnt matter if they can rap better him or make better club songs. Dudes just has not obtain that skill Drake has .

That sound bite off Star67 speaks so much about the rap industry

Drake is the king of this new era, cant name a rapper on his level from this generation

Since 09 hes been in the debate as one of the top rappers in the game, kendrick & cole will never reach his superstardom

So are you saying he's lyrically better or he sells more? Drake is more of a pop artist than a rapper IMO. I know some stand are gonna have a fit over that.

All you guys are saying is he sells more and is more popular. So I guess by that logic Macklemoore is top 3 right now.

drake IS the king of the new era. new era = long as u have mediocre bars over a nice beat/booming bass... youre in.

and kendrick n cole may never reach his SUPERSTARDOM, but theyre not aiming for it either. they want to be known as some of the best to ever rap. and at the rate theyre going, they will. drake will never go down in history as one of the greatest to rap. he'll be one of the most popular, nd in time theyll look back and say ironically he represented alot of what was wrong in rap.

ye is no longer an elite rapper. yeezus cemented that. stop playing. and to say they dont have the skill? CMONNNNN this is what i mean by people not being real. drake has been on a tangent for the past YEAR stealing other peoples flows. on this mixtape, he experimented with some altered versions of other peoples flows on a few tracks... but it didnt work. Drake can rap about girls and money and being with his crew very well. But his subject mtter stops there. His flows are not his own. Hes getting to the point where he puts in minimum effort because he knows his name alone will carry him. Skilled? pssh. Drake has one leg up over competition and thats getting every song he makes on radio. thats about it.

I feel people are hung up on the 90s hiphop and before. While not letting the art of rapping evolve because dude are singing or have pop type beats on their album.

I never heard that song. I thought you were naming some random rapper. So if that makes me ignorant...than ok. Whatever.

My point still stands...as far as mainstream rap goes...Drake is an elite rapper.

I dont know what the **** that has to do w/ the media "feeding" me. I've been very vocal on this board about the artists I listen to...who aren't popular at all. So you can try to typecast me as some teeny bopper who listens to Top 40 radio but you won't get very far.

Still doesn't make Drake an elite rapper, makes him a popular rapper.
Jesus H Christ.

What part of this is hard to understand?

As far as POPULAR RAPPERS GO...is he not in an elite category of ability?

I dare you to name 10 who are better.

Better at being popular?

Again, by that logic, Macklemoore is a top 3-5 rapper. Elle oh Elle.

I can easily name 10 who are better story tellers/more lyrical. That's not hard.

When I say that skll im talking the same way dude talk about Jay not the same since "Blueprint" or "Black Album" but dudes skill looking to see what he drops. Son has not been j**** since for years.

Im cool with Drake not having his own flow since he can rap in general. The same way I have no problem with Logic and The Game jacking other rappers flow.

Took four days post release for this to happen, thats a surprise
