F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

I'm not sure.  I remember seeing the replay of Sutil's crash, but didn't see Bianchi's... didn't even know he was involved in one till I saw it on the timing screen.

My initial reaction was that Bianchi's crash might have been too much for TV, which was why they didn't show it.  I'm just speculating of course.

Well Sky F1 has canceled the highlights of the race itself so it is serious.

Not sure I want to see the vid, but after a quick search, they only had the Sutil's crash... not Bianchi.   Sure it was Bianchi's you saw?

I saw some pics and it sorta looked like the back of Bianchi's car was ripped off... I mean, after all, he did crash into a proper industrial vehicle.

oh, i was youtubing bianchi but i havnt seen enough F1 this year to know what the cars look like, these time zones

My bad...it was sutil crash that they showed. I wasn't paying attention on the car coz I was looking at the impact of the crash.

They didn't show Bianchi crash at all.

i saw the photos on deadspin the headline photo was two tires by the crane made it look like the car was under it but someone in the comments pointed out that it was just the wheels and the car was a couple feet away

I'm deciding if I should watch...

MEDIA INFORMATION │ 7 October 2014

A Statement from the family of Jules Bianchi

Yokkaichi, Japan

7 October 2014, 23.00hrs local/15.00hrs BST

The following statement is provided by the family of Jules Bianchi, in conjunction with the Mie General Medical Center, and is distributed on their behalf by the Marussia F1 Team.

“This is a very difficult time for our family, but the messages of support and affection for Jules from all over the world have been a source of great comfort to us. We would like to express our sincere appreciation.

Jules remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi. He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury and is in a critical but stable condition. The medical professionals at the hospital are providing the very best treatment and care and we are grateful for everything they have done for Jules since his accident.

We are also grateful for the presence of Professor Gerard Saillant, President of the FIA Medical Commission, and Professor Alessandro Frati, Neurosurgeon of the University of Rome La Sapienza, who has travelled to Japan at the request of Scuderia Ferrari. They arrived at the hospital today and met with the medical personnel responsible for Jules’ treatment, in order to be fully informed of his clinical status so that they are able to advise the family. Professors Saillant and Frati acknowledge the excellent care being provided by the Mie General Medical Center and would like to thank their Japanese colleagues.

The hospital will continue to monitor and treat Jules and further medical updates will be provided when appropriate.”

just seen the Vimeo HD of Bianchi's crash :x

looks like he was hydroplaning, thus his car did not slow down at all

Indeed, it was a huge impact.  I mean, it lifted the recovery vehicle!

And yeah, reports were saying he did aquaplane... same as Sutil.

The last I checked, he was critical but stable.  A bit of a waiting-game now, I guess.  At the same time, it's also up to his family on how much they want to release.

Marussia running 1 car this weekend in honor of Bianchi.

Drivers will be sporting this sticker this weekend...

It was boring but Turn 3 though :pimp:

I think it was the tyres rather than track that was the problem. The race was ok at the start with the wheel to wheel action then descended into mehness after.

52 laps on one set of tyres especially with turn 3 where you would have expected to see a ton of marbles but nothing :smh:

Conservative tyre choice definitely played a part, but hard to blame Pirelli... don't know what to expect with these new tracks.  Had they gone S & SS, with marbles everywhere and everyone 3-stopping, they woulda been under equal criticism.
