I swear at first I thought a demon was in me.

Chaging my sleeping habits asap.

Been happening at least 5 times a year since I was about 14.

@ feeling like you're being raped by a ghost.

Happened to me once a few years back, and it was one of the scariest moments that ever happened to me. Woke up in the middle of the night, sitting upright on my bed and couldn't breathe or move any part of my body. After about literally the longest 15 seconds of my life, I let out a small yell and it was over. Some scary @+#% right there man

And it probably made it that much effed up because I didn't know what the *#+# just went on at the time

I don't think it was sleep paralysis but I remember waking up in the middle of night and my left side was hurting. I tried to sit up but the pain intensified. It felt like I was getting stabbed. @%** was brutal

No certain cause or meaning. This is from Wiki:
Some reports read that various factors increase the likelihood of both paralysis and hallucinations. These include:
  • Sleeping in a face upwards or supine position
  • Increased stress
  • Sudden environmental or lifestyle changes
  • A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol coupled with lack of adequate sleep

I don't think I've ever had sleep paralysis, but have any of you felt like you were about to fall out of bed but never did?

I feel your pain. Happened to me for the first time like 3 months ago. It's freaky, man.

When I woke up I felt extremely nervous because I couldn't move my body, and I had the strong sense that some presence was in the room, right next to my bed. It was this black shadowy thing. Apparently those intense feelings that something is in the room with you is common because your brain is still halfway in dreamland, and when you panic your mind creates images like that.

Some things I looked up that you might consider:

- Changing your sleeping pattern a lot can contribute to having it happen...in my case I forced myself to go to bed way earlier than I had been for the past month or so because I had something to do the next morning. You're much more likely to halfway wake-up in the middle of the night when you do it.

- Sleeping on your back was found to be the overwhelmingly most common position for sufferers of sleep paralysis. I still sleep that way, but I'm mindful to go to bed on a certain schedule.

- Don't lie in bed all wound up in anxiety or worry about deadlines you need to meet, or whatever else is stressing you out. If you toss and turn for a long time while doing this and finally drift off to sleep, it can make it more likely to occur.

On an interesting sidenote, OP, ever have this happen to you?

That crap happens to me every other night when I first get ready to go to bed, lol.

Yea sleeping face up was when i witnessed sleep paralysis. Now i sleep face down, which causes me to drool alot. Drooling>>>>>sleep paralysis. Also, idk if it's sleep paralysis or lucid dreams, but there were 2 occasions that happened to me where i could not breathe for a few seconds then i wake up panicking.

Having to build up that momentum in your sleep to actually kick yourself out of it

Ill try like two times...be freaking out cause iy dont work...then the boy counts to three and force myself out of that %$!. Be feeling like

and

at the exact same time.

There are times where i realize i cant force myself up...so I concentrate on going back to sleep. :/

Happened to me once. Scariest feeling in the world! I was conscious that I was in bed but couldn't open up my eyes nor move. Feels batman

haven't had a Hypnic Jerk for a while, but can someone list the differences between Lucid Dreams and Sleep Paralysis?
can't really tell if the dreams i've had were lucid or i was in a state of Sleep paralysis.

Happened to me TWO nights in a row last week.

Man, scary +##%.

The first night I was watching some NBA game and I was slowly fading and I heard the game volume going down.
Meanwhile I'm drifting off and I feel my ear tingling and it sounds like a ghost is whispering in my ear. IDK what was said but I could hear a voice and feel my ear being bothered.
The funny thing is you KNOW you're not awake and not dreaming but I couldn't open my eyes and I couldn't breathe for a little.

The second night I was fully prepared and of course it happened again.
This time I slowly faded away and I could feel myself falling into a "dream" but I started to think about the "whispering" from the night before so immediately felt something or someone

snuggle with me. NO ROMO but it felt like someone was trying to cuddle with me. Couldn't open my eyes for a few seconds and didn't go to sleep for a few hours

Haven't had one since then but it's pretty scary. My house/room may be haunted
