Maybe you guys can help me. I bought my dad a 9D in the Allen Edmonds Park Ave and Carlsbad shoes and both felt tight. The Park ave felt uncomfortably tight around the forefoot even though his toes dont reach the end of the shoe and he couldnt even squeeze his foot into the Carlsbad. When he finally did with a shoe horn and struggle there was room a the end of the shoe but he said it still felt unwalkably tight.

I sized up to both the 9EE Park ave and 9EE Carlsbad and the park ave felt too wide and the Carlsbad was still too tight. I spoke to an Allen Edmonds rep who was basically like "Man, I don't know what to do."

I haven't called them back yet, but he wore the Park Ave. out so I think he's pretty much stuck with that now (they don't accept exchanges on shoes worn out of the house right?) but do you think I should exchange the Carlsbad again for an even wider shoe or just go up a .5 size?

I ask before doing because each one of these exchanges is costing me about $10-15 in mailing fees.

I prefer my J.Crew joints over Clarks. Plus there is an additional 25% off with "SOGOOD"

Dessert boots don't sound like they would taste good. I'd pass.

If it's the width that isn't working for him, going up a half size isn't going to make much of a difference.  I have a wide foot so I've been there.  He'd have to go to a EEE in all likelihood.  Too late since he wore them but they didn't have a 9E in the Park Ave?  At least with those they don't sound uncomfortable although they're too wide now.  Probably could look into some kinda pads.

Call AE and ask to swap for the EEE. Never know.

Their customer service is quite superb.

Were they from their seconds store or AE store? Don't be surprised if they exchange them even if worn, especially if they were from an AE store (first quality). As Adrian said their CS service is among the best.

Since we're on the topics of suits, I'm looking to buy a dark, navy blue suit (for interviews). I've tried on a size 34s Jcrew Ludlow and that seemed to fit well considering its OTR. I have also consider Suitsupply's Napoli and Washington fits since I have heard great reviews from here. Budget is ~$400-$500. Any other suggestions?

I'm also a rather short and skinny guy (5'4, ~125 lbs) so that also plays a factor.

PS. Thanks to Adrian for giving a heads up on those Fifth Ave's!

I would def go the MTM route and try out Indochino or TaT.
20% off with Indochino til sunday with code FBCOUPON

I have tried kid sizes but they fit too tight. H&M suits fit well, although the quality of their suits isn't anything to run home about.

Any feedback from Indochino? I remember quite a few DB members have bought from them if I am not mistaken.

I also received my Fifth Ave's today and as with all my other pairs of seconds, I found some minor scuffs and dings but for the price, I am definitely not complaining :pimp:

I got them from the AE store but they're seconds quality. think they'd still exchange them though worn once? They had to order the Carlsbad specially and didn't have a wider size in the Park which is why I've had to mail them out each time.

And I don't know I think the clerk recommended the EE size when I said he couldn't get his foot in them. Maybe the Park Ave's are a 9E and the Carlsbad is EE. Thanks for the advice though, I'll go check them out and try going up another size wider as suggested.

Nako, unfortunately once second's are worn, no exchange can be made.

BangDak, Serg has indo and illmatickal. Both seem to enjoy it and with that 20% code....I am contemplating myself.

We have somewhat similar measurements. I have 5 indo suits and they're good for the money (I got mine before they hiked up their prices). The trickiest part for indo, and other online MTM companies, is the initial suit.

The first may come out ill fitting due to poor measurements. Indo however gives you $75 worth of alteration credits and if it needs more work than that, they will remake the jacket/pants for you. I've had them remake pants cause they were too slim.
