Been to Nordstrom Rack a handful of times and I've seen some AE's around, but they're usually the loafers with the rubber soles or soles that are reconditioned.

I did find some nice Asics and Claks desert boots (sneaker sole) on the cheap.

Don't know about @RFX45, but I consider myself to be pretty white collar. I do work with some people who are on a complete other level. Can't see myself dropping $1300 for a pair of oxfords or spending $5-7k for suits. They do look really nice though. To be fair, these guys are managing directors or senior advisors for groups--we're talking in the $2 MM+ bracket here :smh:

Brand and quality aside (which I know nothing about so I can't comment on), I personally don't like the overall shape and I'm not a fan of the rubber sole.  Even from the profile, the rubber makes it look a little thicker and heavy.  They'd be about $150 and I hate to go back to the well but I think you could do a lot better with Allen Edmonds Seconds http://www.shoebank.com/

Do you have a preference between a balmoral and a blucher?  Balmoral is dressier.

In terms of lower price, I've had a couple pairs of To Boot NY that last a while, quality was pretty good and these have a rubber sole too but they're cheap if you get the discount on sale items too:

Thanks. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the lengthy/skinny look or the sharp toe, or duck beak looking ones (as you can tell, I'm not familiar with the terms :lol:).

Yes, the Magnanni ones are the ones I'm looking at after the Neil M. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I don't even know which fit into that category, maybe the John W Nordstrom pair?  Too rounded or too square is no good.

Basically in terms of looks alone I'd go with any of those over the Neil M pair but that's just me.  If it comes down to it, my advice would be the Magnanni.  Not a fan of how the Neil M's sole is so wide, makes them look like Strength[emoji]8482[/emoji] Shoes from above.  Only person to review them was a 55-59 year old man which makes sense.

I've handled a few when I visited Leather Soul in Beverly Hills. They look neat and all, but I can't see myself pulling the trigger.

Story of Leather Soul is pretty cool too. Owner used to love Jordan sneaks. Opened up a shop that sold niche shoes. Aldens were the most expensive stuff they had. Now they are the least expensive stuff :lol:

I believe you can get those shoes on discount so if you are patient, they can be had for under a grand. At least this is what I gathered from lurking at times on the CM section of SF.



Does AE have rubber sole shoes that make it to the 2 for $250 deal? Wouldn't mind copping some for winter.

The Brooks Brothers version usually are part of most sales, just need to hunt them down.

Can't be caught off guard the 2 days it rains in SoCal during the winter, :lol:

I have about 3 pairs, brown and walnut. Use them often, very comfortable.
 
M. Dont fret though - nothing a tailor can't fix. I just thought it was strange that the peacoat was listed as 39" as well but it hit much higher (right around the knee area - perfect IMO).
