And1 Alimoe died

RIP. He kicked is with us a few weeks down here after an exhibition game, told me he has Diabetes and that's why he never made it. He also complimented my game which meant more than anybody else saying anything negative
Yo you played with/against those And1 guys right??? Did they have a travelling opposing squad???

Damn, RIP Alimoe. One of my favorite streetball legends.

This is so random, I forgot who it was at first until I came into this thread. But I met the dude before, I was with a friend and his uncle in Harlem (guy knew everybody) and alimoe was just posted up chillen outside of a bodega laughing and chillen with my boys uncle.

I knew it was him then, cause I was much younger and used to watch the and1 on espn on occasion. He showed me love when I recognized him tho. Told me I had guts coming out to Harlem and chillen with a bunch of black folks for a day cause no one within 20 blocks was as light at me.

That was one of my first times in Harlem, had to have been in the 140's. I almost complelty forgot that happened. RIP - Black Widow.

RIP.

I remember watching an interview and he was talking about all he wanted to do was play ball as a kid, he didnt care about the girlys, fashion, drugs or streets. For some reason, I'll never forget that.

He just wanted to ball.
That's sad to hear.  I remember seeing that interview on the Street Ball - The And1 Mixtape Tour.  I loved his style of play, handles, passing, and the cup dunk that he would do every now and then.

Sad news to report today in the world of basketball as streetball legend and former AND 1 mixtape star, a family friend tells Hip-Hop Wired that Tyrone "Alimoe" Evans has passed away from complications following a stroke.

The Harlem, NY resident also known as "The Black Widow" rose to prominence during the street ball boom of the late 90s and early 2000s. The 6'7" player was known for his trademark ball handling skills despite his immense size, something only seen on a regular basis in the National Basketball Association.

Alimoe reached superstar status as one of the more popular players during the AND 1 Mixtape Tour. He stood out with famous street ball players of the era including Hot Sauce, The Professor, Main Event, The Air Up There, and many more. In an interview with Hoopsvibe in 2003, Evans said he wanted to be remembered as somebody that made somebody else get up and do better.

"They don't have to let me know that I lit their fire; just go out and do it.," said Evans. "They don't have to thank me and bring me out to the game; just go do it. Just knowing that that little kid watching me took something home with them. See, basketball is a teacher of life. The lessons you learn in basketball - don't be selfish, work hard, and treat everybody good - they're the same lessons in life."

Hip-Hop Wired sends its deepest condolences to the Evans family.

IMO he was the most talented of all the streetball and1 players.

when he wasnt about tricks, his game translated to someone who could make it.

sad day

:frown:

This dude had actual talent. He wasn't all gimmicks like some of the others who when through the tour. When I think And1, he's one of the two people I think of (Skip, being the other). I remember being in the dorms at St. John's and watching his highlights on HoopsTV.

RIP.

Loved watching him play. I have all of the mixtapes except 8 that I let my friend borrow and he never gave it back. His game was nice. Him and headache were my favorites to watch

RIP.

Out of all the other streetball cats he always seemed like the realest. Dude had actual game that could have translated to being a pro player, he wasn't just a dribbling fool like Hot Sauce
