i have a meeting with a Vice President week. UPDATE: official tissue phone interview on Thursday

Did you even read what I wrote? No disrespect, just asking? .
yeah... i meant retail... i was typing it while talking to a homey and i guess i didnt type right...

but i dig where you're coming from

Fam how you askin a buncha unemployed NTers for advice instead of one of your finance professors?
i'm going to talk to them when i go into class...

but many NTers have some broad backgrounds...

on a another note... when did it become so bad to be a NTer?

seems like everybody has little penises, get no yambs, live at home, and do stupid things on tv.

srs question OP do you still have braids? Not trying to be funny or diss.
naw.. never had them...

i got dreads, though... :frown:

may not work, but i've always thought neat dreads where a little bit more accepted in the corporate world than dreads.

i'm pretty sure i'm going to have to cut them eventually... but i'm young and dont want to concede to the system...

gotta keep hope ali-eeeve.

*black power fist*

I dont have much more advise that hasn't been said but best of luck be confident and look him in his eyes when you shake his hand.

Go in there with the goal of building a relationship not getting a hand out. If the meeting is in his office look around for trophies or things that you can relate to and chop it up with him. Tell him what your goals are be direct and straight to the point and ask him the best route to reach.

I left super early cuz I'm not familiar with downtown ... ended up BREEZING thru traffic and got here an hour early. x :smh:

Finna head in for the meeting deaux .. results after the jump.

this better not end up like the asking out the bartender thread...

rick update plz respond.

Aight... so I get up to the guys office... 26th floor corner office steez ... overlooking all of downtown ...

I go in his office and we talked about my plans, what I'm trying to do.

He said that he used to be in hr, so he appreciated that I reached out to him because most don't. He also said those who have made the transition over to different departments tend to do well when they go about it the way I am...

We went into what he did, and what they do there.

I told him about some past projects that I did combined with what I'm currently doing for ATT in the small and medium business field.

When it got to me, he was already talking as if I had the job

"Is your current manager okay with you leaving?"
"Training for financial analysts is in new jersey or Atlanta, so you'll be taking a lot of trips there."
"We have to do a formal interview with a guy on my team, and he'll think the same about you as I do. He just does all the paperwork. From there, we'll have a panel interview to see who wants and needs you"
"You came at a great time because we're consolidating a lot of these positionshere to Dallas "

Meeting was very brief... about 25 min... I sent him my resume when I got to my store ... all I got back was a "we'll be in touch soon. Thanks"

Seems positive overall. Shows how much initiative matters.

Good work OP, looks like you laid the foundation for a better future for yourself :pimp: .

Yeah what Ive learned in corporate is that potential actually means some as long as you continue to show it.

I'm really just trying to get an analyst positions so I can maybe shift to investment banking or portfolio management in the future. They're different fields... but a foot into financial analytics is all I need.

Ricky you want to clock 120 hrs a week as an IB'er?
I've thought about it...

I really want to go into something that can pave the way to asset management, whether it be mutual, hedge funds, or portfolio management.

I got the sales part down pat. I just gotta get some analytical experience.

Just remember the STAR technique for all your answers, talk about your successes in current role, and how MBA stuff youre doing is related.
