For both on budget, get the Tokina 11-16mm for ultra wide or the Tokina 10-17mm for fisheye. Both are about $500+ or so depending where you get it.

Tokina 11-16 was my choice

Sick....what camera are you using? Nikon or Canon? I am almost positive this will be my next lens. Going to flip my Lucky SBs to get it.....

i have been MIA because i have been doing a lot of family functions and all i take are portraits and candids.

since everyone is talking about the DX 35mm, i'll post some of the shots i have taken of my family. i have a D60 so the 35 is really shooting more like a50mm, but i have been very happy with it so far. i think all of these were shot at f/2.8

and one in a dark restaurant. i was using my SB400

Nothing much but thought i'd add to the post. Playing with my Sigma 10-20, was about a foot and a half from the front of the car had no more room to backup anymore.

vivitars (285) are the legendary flashes for people who didn't want to pay the hefty price for TTL/eTTi or whatever. learning on it will beall manual, but that's the good way to do it. it takes a while to learn how to light with off camera flash, here's a great blog for it though:

here's my monthly contribution. the photograph was published in 1x a few weeks ago

border's slightly bigger than i like, but i'm too lazy to change it right now. make sure your monitor is set to the correct temperature, or else thispicture's colors vary like crazy from uncalibrated monitors

I got the 50mm f/1.8 today. I'm more than pleased. I've had it for less than half an hour...

My camera bag was in my car, so as soon as I had it in my hands I snapped that baby on. This was the victim car next to mine.

Yo, thanks for the response... exactly the response I was looking for. That's all I want right now (an umbrella, stand, and adapter) to goalong with the equipment I have. Question, what flash are you using, is the adapeter you using "holding it tight" and is the shoe mount plastic? Rather have one that isn't metal to prevent a short in my flash. Thanks again!

Thanks Mr Fongstarr. I use a Canon XT and I also had to flip a few pairs to obtain this lens. Now another 180 + for a CP filter

I know last time I did a C&C on your pictures you got on my case, but these two pictures seem wrong IMHO - maybe is my monitor orsomething, but they seem way to over process .. the noise is a bit distracting even if it was intentional - it seems like an underexpose picture that someonetry to bring back by playing with the levels/curves and the bokeh (BLUR) is way horrible probably because of the sharpening you apply to it ... Go ahead andget on my case and call me another random NTer - if you post pictures they are subjective to critiques ..
