Pickup basketball stereotypes.

They forgot the "im gonna let everyone know you fouled me but I dont call fouls" guy when he pretty much calls a foul but doesnt want the ball.

Him: damn bruh..we out here hacking people..

Fouler: alright your ball. Check up.

Him: nah I dont call fouls

Fouler: ok...

rinse and repeat every time he touches the ball, with just another way to say he was fouled
im the guy who gets hacked, wont call it, but will dish it right back, and the moment you complain, im ready to fight

*shrugs*

Whether or not you want to call legit fouls has nothing to do with you fouling me.

I'm not one to hack a lot but I don't give up easy layups if I'm the help defender. I'm going to give a clean hard foul and if you want to let hard fouls slide...
ok, just dont cry when i bring it back to you

that being said, after hooping so long, you will pretty much have to wrap my arms down to my body, i dont call fouls, because if im at the cut (slasher, no jumper whatsoever) im not about to miss a layup whether you undercut me, push me, smack me in the face, if my hands go up with the ball, its a point

 who you playing? 5th graders

hmmmmm how many 5th graders will it take to stop u from scoring?

i have to keep my record flawless

Pet peeve of mine is playing with people who're playing just for the exercise.. Seriously get off the basketball court and run the treadmill if you're not trying to win the game..

lol, i was that guy for a little while, then i realized nobody who recognized me would pick me up lmao

I average about four of these a game or get them to get ready to pass the ball (before they realize I'm not on their team) and they turn it over, double dribble, travel, jump up to pass and land with the ball, or even carry the ball. But, I'm to the point now that if they pass me the ball when I am on defense I just look at it go out of bounds and say loudly WILL YOU PLEASE PUT THE BALL IN A POINT GUARDS HANDS. What I always do is guard a scrub who can't play or has no basketball acumen, and do the things that he should be doing i.e., cut to the hoop, go to the open area, set screens, all while on defense. Or when our team scores (and they are about to inbound) I start complaining and say will somebody please guard that dude, complain about nobody playing defense etc., clap for the ball and lay it right back in the basket. Matter of fact got somebody like that on gamepoint today, when the gym was packed. Man that entire team was heated....

Or another one of my favorites is when they check the ball up top and I am guarding my man on the wing area and I bait him up by saying if you cut to the hoop right now you will beat me to the basket, I'm so tired. My man cuts to the basket I cut to the man checking the ball and EVERYTIME they inbound it to me and I am already moving towards the basket so I have everybody beat for a breakaway basket. That one has almost got me in some major trouble so I have to mind the competition in the gym before I do that one. I always wait until game point to do this one.

Another one that I use is when somebody on the other team gets trapped I run to the open area where he can make an pass to where a team mate should be. That goes back to that saying that pressure busts pipes -- people who can barely dribble DO NOT want the ball when they get trapped, it's like a hot potato.

All the tricks I pull stem from a few things they teach you when you are young -- look up when you dribble, and learn how to dribble using your off hand. When I see dudes that can't do this it is like blood in the water for a shark, way too easy. Dudes get at me for doing this but I always say if I am running around acting like I am on your team what is the dude I am supposed to be guarding doing?? Which goes back to bringing the homeboy who can't play. Basketball is like dating you can't date everybody and you can't play on the same team as everybody...
so you pretty much play against weak dudes? i'm just reading some of your guys post and i have a feeling most of you guys aren't real hoopers off it.

You'd be shocked. Hell, I watched an NBA team of professionals forget which direction they were defending after a timeout and give up an easy runout basket in the 4th quarter. I know of a guy who scored the game winner in a high school state tournament on his own basket (thus making it the game loser), when his team was up and he just had to hold the ball.

I am the black hole. Can't really complain bout me cuz when I'm on which is more often then not I don't miss but I pull up from three on a fast break or just shoot when no one is set up .

I used to have to guard 6'8+ centers in HS (I'm 6'2), I know how to prevent layups. I'll learn the first time you get an un-called And 1 and from then on you're getting hacked

Back in college IM was call your own foul. Since it was timed w/o a shot clock people used to try to run out the clock by not calling fouls even when we were grabbing them saying "I'm fouling you". So I tackled this dude and nearly ripped off his wife beater and almost started a riot (other team had their entire dorm there)

i mean clearly i was exaggerating, but man, thats the plight of anyone over 6'1, i had to guard dudes who were 6'6+ in hs, (6'2, 6'3 in Brons lol) needless to say, i didnt play basketball too long for my school

idk why you wouldnt just steal the ball tho, if they arent calling fouls, smack his dribbling arm and steal it when he loses control lol

I hate playing with guy with the IQ of yours...it irks the crap outta me.

And for his heroics he went Thunder game and met KD :smh:

I don't care there's no excuse for that stupidity...he should be barred from playing basketball ever again even pickup games

Um No not really, You would be surprised how many scholarship basketball players I get with this stuff, has me wondering who is the head of recruiting at the school and how did you get one. Grown men are game as well. You would be surprised how many people do not pay attention to the game. I'm too old at this stage of life just to be playing games with just anybody.. Believe me if the games are weak, i'll go to the track and run or go lift weights.

I'm like 5'10. And all I do is shoot. Give me the ball anywhere on the court. Don't matter. Ill bet whatever from the 3 pt line if any baltimore nters wanna bet something.

I'm the "my bad" guy

The old man who rips it up on the court is such a true story though

I hate the dude that comes with his kid. Cause you know it's not gonna be a fair competition. We're here tryna run a serious game and you bring a 4 year old to the court.

^ You'll eat those words when you have a kid and still love the game, and then realize there is no special 'Daddy League', and babysitting isn't an option.

Not just KD, hemet everybody. Bennett, the owner, gave him and his coach his floor seats which are right by the home tunnel. I saw Perkins, KD, WB, and Ibaka all chatting him up and giving him shoes and clothes and balls and ****. But the other play I mentioned was this. Tell me how these grown *** men got fooled by a basic stack and don't realize they are in the Laker's backcourt, not at the Laker's basket and EVERYONE is on the high side of their man (not between their man and the basket). The Hornets should be contracted and all these kats should give the NBA a rebate on their paychecks for at least this game; inexcusable mistake to make any time but look at the time and score, in their own building no less. :smh:

why not just sign up your kid at the local Y or park and have play with other kids his age and coach his team or something?

and you can play with the other coaches or something but its cool to play serious with your kid against other grown men when your kid is like 12 because its different when hes at the age to to seriously contribute vs being like 4 or 5 playing with grown men

Yea 4 or 5 is a little too young, once the kid is 12+ it's ok, unless the games r really intense, in which case the kid could play on the other court
