What jackets yall rockin this fall/winter?

You do realize that The North Face sells jackets (and a ton of them) that aren't specifically "Hyvent", right? Hyvent is a type of waterproof material used by The North Face. It's good but cheaper than Gore-Tex, for example.

The pic that aNYone posted looks like a McMurdo parka which was a hood staple in NY like 5-7 years ago and uses Hyvent.

I was wondering why the hell you keep saying Hyvent as if all The North Face jackets with Hyvent are "played out" but basically you just don't know what you're talking about. Probably respond with "We just call em Hyvents in NY." Nah, I've heard plenty of people refer to the McMurdo by it's actual name...maybe that's what they're called on your block Ninjahood Jr.

Yeah, other companies have gained popularity whereas The North Face was THE staple for winter jackets but TNF brand for jackets (and everything else) is far from dead, still plenty of them everywhere including NYC.
I think alp just used very off base words.

He initially said north face as a brand fell off which is bonkers thats like saying nike fell off

i dont think thats what he was trying to say. he should of said the 550 or McMurdo (the jacket i posted) as you called it (it was called 550 around my way because of the number on the wrist) are now less popular in the "urban enviornment"

Those have since been replaced by Marmots Pelle Pelle leathers fugazzi monclers and a few Canada gooses in the hood. But the hood is such a microscopic spectrum of the brand.

This might be a strech but relative to winter wear North Face is akin to  Apple and Nike meaning i see it errry dam day.

Theres nothing wrong with that north face(although I wouldn't go as far as to call it fly), the hyvent **** is played out.
i think i speak for everyone in this thread when i say your opinion on ANYTHING being "played out" is revoked and discarded

immediately when you uttered this in regards to camping for those kanye sneakers approaching a release:

that little hypebeast fashionista snob echo chamber you stuck in got your mind fried, North Face is still da PREMIER winter

jacket brand out here pound for pound, ESPECIALLY NYC. da steeptechs, to da summit series, to da denalis, to da nuptse

bubble coat and vest (and new redesigned slimmer one) to da mcmurdo affectionately known as da snorkel, da vintage models

with goretex, etc are still ALL out here in HEAVY rotation... you wanna know how far off your opinion was? ask anybody who

still goes to school whats da number one bookbag out? here's a hint: it matches da number 1 coat brand out.

and as far as "hyvent" its a proprietary material that North Face uses that replaced Gore-tex on their models, im assuming

they didn't wanna continue to pay royalties to use it. Marmot RARELY uses Gore-tex now for i presume da same reason as

they also have their own propriety material they implement on their mid-tier jackets.

Need me a decent letterman. Old Navy had one for cheap last year. Remember seeing it in the other jacket thread.

Still trying to get ahold of a bomber, biker, and a more serious 'winter is buggin' type of jacket. Zara seems to have alot of clean jackets for the low.

No one here wears Canada Goose, mostly North Face in NYC atleast. I have friends from Toronto and they say its almost played out there

I'm about to buy the chilliwack bomber though. I've only see like 2-3 here last couple of years.

Almost played out? I believe CG has been played out here in Toronto for many years now. And to the other guy asking, no, they don't have an outlet for them in Toronto, and they cannot be copped on any real discount. And even if they could, I still wouldn't mess with them.

seen a couple Canada Goose coats in NYC, but its hard to make inroads here with north face and marmot running **** as far as coats is concerned.

Truth be told, being from toronto the Canada goose is played out, everyone and their mom has one, literally. Their dying off, quickly. @11wordisbond  there actually is the warehouse near eglington and keele which used to have sample sales pretty frequently a couple years back before they really got popular

And i know people with goose's who wear their TNF instead of them when its in the freezing temp's.

son I don't care for your opinion on what I deem played out, if i think something I say it, I don't hold back. Read aNYone's comment. What you said about the book bags is true but we are talking about jackets in this thread not book bags

yeah but me and you both know, you're not rocking a north face book bag with a marmot coat...thats like rocking adidas with nikes.

north face is da most popular coat brand in NYC, i wouldn't buy anymore North face now because i have too many north face jackets as it is ( i got 5 different models)

you're entitled to your opinion as far as how you personally feel, but it doesn't mean its accurate for da entire landscape as far as jacket marketshare in NYC, and north east is concerned.

Just because everyone and their mom is wearing it doesn't mean it's played out. Y'all don't want to look like everyone else and that's understandable.

I was speaking specifically on the mcmurdo and as aNYone mentioned u have to be blind to see that it's not popping like it was back in 06. I used the wrong words and exaggerated, mistakingly so, but that was my point. And yes, I rock my north face bag with my merm. :wow: flame suit on

so if 95' airmaxes are played, then by your logic nike is going under...

you sound foolish, the fact that 1 specific style of a huge brand like TNF has lost popularity in inner city NY has absolutely no effect on the brand whatsoever..

if this is what you meant then i agree.

they went from complete market DOMINATION to still holding da fort, but giving up marketshare to marmot, and pelle, and other non snorkel north face models (summit series, steep tech)

but da north face as a brand overall? they play in too many ranges so they compete very well with other light jackets, to full on winter coats.

i remember when North face was ONLY known for their bubble (even though their 3-in-1 goretex shells and OG kevlar apogee steeptech in da 90's were superior)

Mase-and-biggie.png

cats were getting robbed left and right for these in back in da day (they even almost tried me for mine)

and once phat farm had that 1 year run bringing back da snorkel style, North face dropped da 2 tone Mcmurdo snorkel in 2000 and BLEW UP.

da good thing about North Face is da popularity of 1 jacket can anchor da entire lineup, bubbles were on da verge of being played out, and snorkets & steep techs

dropped anchored da brand and kept da bubble relevant WAY past its peak, you can still rock em now and are still respected, i got a royal blue 700 i wear sometimes

that i've owned since 1997, no other brand (other than nike) can do that.

i got got for my navy/black 700 :x had to be extra cautious if you walked around with either that or a vanson in an unfamiliar neighborhood pre millenium, NY was not as friendly as it is now, ironically enough i feel it was still safer, because most likely the worst thing that can happened is youll get jumped....now people gotta worry about these cowards oulling a gun.....smh

There we go, this is better. I still ***** with tnf from time to time
