Ray Rice Vol. Knocks out fiancée, carries her out of the elevator

So many people with different agendas getting involved. Politicians knowing this is an election year trying to corner the women vote by telling Goodell to step down as if their dirt isn't worse.

And this has been blown way out of proportion.

what are the false claims by the nfl though? that they never saw the videotape until it was released by tmz? how does that change what took place?

it sucks to hold some of y'alls hands and go back and forth, but the nfl punished ray rice initially on the grounds that he beat that woman

the release of the videotape just further proved he beat that woman

what can ray rice possibly sue the nfl over? "they lied. they said they didn't see the tape, but they really did"

 its simple

The NFL suspended Rice for 2 games.....2 paychecks

The NFL then comes back and says well there's new evidence and we didnt know about it so here's your indefinite suspension based on "new evidence".....possibly a years worth of paychecks if not the end of his career

If we now know the NFL had this "new evidence" the whole time and still gave him 2 game suspensions.... what exactly are they increasing his punishment for?

It's a form of double jeopardy but the only leverage NFL had was they didnt know the tape existed. Thats no longer the case. And Rice's career worth tens of millions is involved

This has civil case all over it.

Not to mention the other two dudes that suited up and played this past Sunday supposedly after new rules went into play

You clearly have no knowledge of the law or how lawsuits work. He has no case whatsoever.

Lmao double jeopardy. You guys really think Rice has a case? I'm sure the NFL has a ton of clauses in their contract for this sort of stuff. Doing something that causes the league to lose sponsors? Something that causes terrible PR? There's no doubt that they have flexibility to increase punishments if the player doesn't fully cooperate with the NFL (which he didn't when he lied about the incident) and when their behavior is costing the NFL and the Ravens sponsors.

Y'all gotta be kidding me feeling bad for Ray Rice of all people. He should take his half year or full year suspension. Take that time to go to rehab/counseling, thank the heavens his wife didn't press charges and throwing him in jail, then come back as a "changed man".

^when did he lie and what did he lie about?

I haven't been following closely enough, I thought he fully cooperated with the NFL.

Yeah. Ray Rice never lied about anything. Do I think he came out and said he 2 pieced his wife in a boxing stance? No.

But I'm sure he said something of the sort indicating some domestic violence took place, and he did something he wasn't proud of.

there is no such thing as double jeopardy in the nfl. this isn't a criminal or legal matter, which would invoke double jeopardy. the nfl has its own rules

“Section 4. One Penalty: The Commissioner and a Club will not both discipline a player for the same act or conduct. The Commissioner’s disciplinary action will preclude or supersede disciplinary action by any Club for the same act or conduct.”

He most certainly has a case...

Depending how you look at it he was punished 3 times. First suspension, Released/contract voided and the indefinite suspension.

The penalty is different between domestic dispute and an assault. Originally both of them got arrested which leads to the assumption THEY had a fight. Her apology leads to the assumption THEY had a fight. Getting suspended only 2 games leads to the assumption THEY had a fight. That video? They didn't have a fight.

Same thing I'm wondering, its not like he said she was drunk, tripped and hit her head on the railing which knocked her out. Weren't they both arrested for assault? Didnt' he admit to putting hands on her and agree to do counseling?

Exactly. Everyone saw the aftermath of the incident from the first video. Just like we saw Rhianna's face after CB went ham on her. Would video of the assault change our opinion of him now? He beat her ***, how he did doesn't matter. Unless Ray lied which we know he didn't then this new punishment is uncalled for. SI reporter mentioned in July that people at the NFL saw the tape and described what happen. He was punished based off league rules for DV, the public wasn't happy so they changed it.

Now they decide to change the punishment, not according to the new rules but some arbitrary bs.

Still don't see why people are overlooking law enforcements role in this.

In what way? No sacarsm I'm really asking. Is because they didn't prosecute him?

rice wont win in nobody court room

even if he does

they may let him back in the league but whos going to want him

Punishment uncalled for?

He could have easily killed that girl in that elevator.

Dude is a piece of **** he deserves what he's getting.

Dude, I hear you but they should have done that from the jump. I agree he is/was a piece of **** especially at how callous he was with her body afterward. All of this should have played a part in his initial punishment. This is why I say fake outrage, everyone has blinders on and acts like this new footage is some kind of revelation.

Were you this upset when you saw the footage back in Feb? I just don't agree with them covering it up or whatever you want to call it, then when **** hits the fan throw him and only him under the bus. This is my gripe.

yea thats my only gripe.... ppl are letting their personal feelings and emotions overlook the fact that his ban was a direct violation of the nfl guidelines...end of the day dude wasnt even punished for what he did, he was punished for public opinion of him and a video.

imagine if punishment/laws were based on how ppl felt about a person or their opinion of a person? granted some ppl, a select ppl would basically get away with murder (and looking at events like martin/brown they already do) but imagine how many ppl would be banned from the league, prosecuted, and or end up serving time

I thought he should have been done for the year back in feb we already saw him dragging her out of the elevator like garbage seeing the actual blows didnt change my mind,

you're absolutely right tho about fake outrage and they should have handled it like this from jump street the NFL has "blood" on there hands too for trying to sweep this under the rug,

the law enforcement officials involved should be blamed as well for giving dude a slap on the wrist, something tells me if I go down to AC and tyson my wife I'm going to prison.

NFLPA WILL fight on Rice's behalf because there is a bigger picture here. EVERY player in the league has just been put on notice that your original league-mandated suspensions can be reneged at any point and lengthened. This is unprecedented and NOT part of the CBA.

As I said from the jump, if Rice can prove that the NFL had seen the tape before the 2 game suspension was announced, he does have the grounds to sue. His account matched up perfectly with what was seen on video. I'm not defending Rice in any way because what he did was sickening. However, can anyone rationally explain what was different between what we saw two days ago and what Rice described to the higher-ups? The 2 game suspension was a joke, but what's happening to him right now isn't right. I don't feel sorry for him because he put himself in this position...but he's being absolutely railroaded. He should have been reinstated as soon as the clock hit 00:00 later tonight.

Do you guys feel like Goodell decided on 2 games because Rice playing equals more money for the team/organization?

I wish we could see how folks would react if Rice got a year suspension and the 2nd tape still leaked when it did.

i think he wanted it to go away as fast as possible and giving rice a long suspension off the jump would have had people asking why and wanting to see the video then which would have been bad pr for the league ironically the league now looks even worse

Yea, makes sense. Sucks for dude right now. If that Teyana rumor is true we as man gotta stop being so dumb, allowing females to cause you to lose what you worked hard for.
