Police Brutality Discussion & Solutions...

Just like any group, police officers are not immune to the bad apples that slip through the cracks of the hiring process.

But nowadays police agencies are facing a time where being a cop is looked down upon so it's hard to find qualified people willing to take up the job. So agencies tend to lower the standard to fill the roles. Plus taking into account the ones retiring, quitting, or being let go there is an even larger void to fill.

There's the lowered standard and the fact that they'd prefer to defend the bad apples till the death of them all instead of punishing them for their errors

I don't think bad apples have to slip through the cracks of the hiring process, I reckon the standard is just very low and bad apples can get in with little to no issues. Otherwise there probably wouldn't be so many of them.

It's clear that there are a number of glaring issues with the police system.

The first is obviously the lack of accountability. With no accountability, nothing changes.

Second is the hiring and training process. Something is clearly very wrong there if so many of these bad apples get in and cause incident after incident.

The burnout is real also. I've had friends growing up whose fathers are/were police. All divorced. All alcoholics. I've also seen it amongst corrections officers.

This problem with police will never change until our entire culture changes. A shift towards Income equality would be BIG first step. A reason for the modern day military oriented policing is because it is dictated by the powers that be, who happen to be rich men, majority white. Their interests are a top priority when you analyze modern policing.

Well state to state have different processes for hiring and background checks. I can only speak for CA but the process here is pretty damn extrnsive anf def weeds out a lot of bad apples yet there are a few that get through.

Gwinnett Co. Solicitor-General Rosanna Szabo announced that she was dropping charges in 89 cases handled by these 2 recently fired officers.

Good on Gwinnett County for the swift action and not letting these cowards and liars hide behind them. Scary thing is this is just another day without the cameras.

Hope this video goes viral even more so as it is an EXTREME use of force illustration. For whatever call the police had, it didn't sound like a gun was even involved originally so I'm not sure why the police pulled and pointed their guns at the kids in the first place.

was just about to post that

A suburban Dallas police chief acknowledged Monday that an officer who fatally shot a black 15-year-old in a moving vehicle fired as the car was driving away — not as it reversed toward officers, as the department had previously asserted.

Texas cop who fatally shot 15-year-old has been fired, police say

"I unintentionally, incorrectly said the vehicle was backing down the road," Haber said Monday. "According to the video, the vehicle was moving forward as the officer approached."
Haber added, "After reviewing the video, I don’t believe that [the shooting] met our core values."

The release added: "It has been determined Roy Oliver ... violated several departmental policies."https://www.yahoo.com/gma/texas-cop...ed-police-043800833--abc-news-topstories.html

Why cant they simply state he BROKE THE LAW.. Policies :smh:. Then the DOJ gets involved. Before that, its some review board. Treat these scum like every other person who breaks the law. Lawyer up like the rest of us and deal with the real justice system

Yet another slap on the wrist for gunning down a child...:smh:

I fully expect dude to find work elsewhere at another department too

Liars and cowards. Without the badge most of of them wouldn't want trouble.

And on top of that the families that just let these dudes continue breathing after they kill their children are cowards too.
