GoPro Video Thread

owner of a gp3+ checking in.

i'd say the gopro in a way forced me to be more active. I usually take it to go hiking and snowboarding but recently i've taken out to some softball games along with other random events.

If you're planning to get the gopro, you're going to want to invest in some mounts.

GoPro products are pretty pricey, but you can get a lot of the same products for a lot cheaper (look into Smatree products on amazon) or even DIY kind of stuff.

mounts i currently have are:

- pole stick mount (used an old ski stick)

- chest hardness (smatree)

- head strap (smatree)

looking into getting a suction cup mount next.

i'd say a big con for the gopro is the battery life... i usually have like 3 spare batteries on me just in case, since recording will probably go for ~1:15.

you bring up a good point, people with gopros spend a GRIP on accesories lol.   My gopro was a gift to me, but Ive easily spent almost the cost of it in accessories alone.

Off the top of my head:
Gopole (that floats)
Jaws clamp
surf board mount
random mount grab bag
floaty back door
Some other random monopod
etc

Like almost everything, gotta get them on amazon for the best deals.

+1, i have to think they are caking of the accessories...you could diy some workable solutions with effort, patience, & time...you'd also have to deal with maybe sub-optimal solutions though...

speaking of accessories this isn't officially form gopro but its pretty dope, despite it looking silly, its a swivel mount that allows the camera to 360 around, took it for a quick ride, i posted this vid in the motorcycles thread as well, the vid quality is pretty subpar unless watched in 720,youtube downsampled it from 2.7k and i edited it on an ipad:

all i need is for this thing to get a little more affordable...

Any rumors yet on the hero 4? Don't know what else you can do to make it that much better than the 3+.

my gopro stock is nasty though. Bought it at $24 a share. Now it's sitting at just under $80 a share.

took this the other day. using the gopro software for editing and when i save to post to youtube, the resolution seems to drop significantly. guess i have to take the time to process/edit them better.

I really hope the hero 4 comes out before the end of the year. A rumor I saw said it should come out October since that's the month new items from them has come out in the past. Plan on buying it over a dslr

I'm going to Dubai in 3 weeks...

The 4 needs to drop!

Looking to get my first GoPro and just want to get the white edition. Just peeped the specs on the new low-end model for the upcoming season and they are the exact same as the Hero3 White, except you can't remove the camera from the waterproof housing. :x I might as well stick with the Hero 3 White edition for my first GoPro.

The new entry level model, Hero, doesn't have built in wi-fi.

Im in the same boat as you. I am thinking of buying a 3+ once the 4 comes out and then make the investment to the 4 later down the road once i figure out if i like it or not

Those who already have the previous models of GoPro I need your opinion. After reading the specs of Hero4, is it worth it to get silver edition or get the Hero3+ Black with LCD on ebay/craigslist? Looking to get my first GoPro

If you could get the 3+ black with LCD for cheaper, I would go with that. Only cool thing about the Hero4 Silver would be the integrated LCD screen.

Looking at the Hero video overview on YT, I think I might pull the trigger and pay the $130 for my first GoPro. I can make due without the wi-fi, I'll most likely connect it to my Macbook anyway. And for $130, thats not too bad.

I own the hero3+ with an LCD screen. I don't see much of an upgrade here getting the 4. Although the trailer video for the 4 was bad*****.

If you plan on getting a gopro. Try and get one used, a lot of people are trying to dump the 3 to get the 4. I only think it's worth it if you buy it without tax or more off.
