I just ordered lunch and it came to 6.85 and it was delivered to my job and I gave a dollar tip. Was I wrong for just giving a dollar or was I good? I thought 15% was straight but I forgot it was a delivery and should have gave 2 instead. What are your thoughts about this and how much do you usually tip for delivery?

I feel bad but I will order from them again and give 2 next time

If they figure in delivery charge, I don't do it.

If its free once I get to a certain dollar amount, I'll chunk them something.

Not to thread jack... But tipping at Sonic Drive in... And tipping when you pick up your order...

Can I get thoughts on those as well?

:nerd:

They shouldn't even be delivering anything less than $10.

I never use those % rules. But on $6 meal I'd give $3.

If you order from some place often and tip well they will remember you. If you don't tip well they will remember you. How do you want to be remembered?

I do it when I pick up at some places but I feel like it bs to tip on pick up orders cause its not like they're doing anything extra. The cook should be the ones getting that tip.

A while back I went to IHOP to pick up an order and I heard the girl who took my order tell the cook "don't be selfish with the hash browns he tips well". lol

i know minimum for delivery was like 12 bucks too and they still delivered with no delivery charge :smh:... im giving 3 next time just based on GP

Carhops at Sonics in Oklahoma don't even stay long enough for you to tip them unless you just tell them keep everything, because they have them literally sprinting in and out the kitchen. They also don't get paid the "with tip" minimum wage, they get the regular one, if you care about that in relation to deciding whether or not to tip.

You tipped 14.59% What the problem is? Could have just given a whole $10 but whatever, it's subjective and optional.

Its not wrong that you tipped.

I wouldn't have though.

All that person did was their job and its not my responsibility to make up for what their employer doesn't give.

^Please let's not generalize mlps

Op you couldn't throw him 2-3 dollars? :smh:

Also delivery charge has nothing to do with what the driver gets

You guys man :smh:

At least tip $2. $3 would put a smile on their face. Drivers don't just sit around waiting to take pizzas they also do some prepping and stocking that other employees do to.

if it came out to $6.85 i would have just given him $10

but i'm civilized.

Does being civilized mean tipping equality?

Srs...

do you tip your mechanic, grocery store merchant, water company, electric company, gas station clerk, customer support rep, etc?

How does a civilized person pick and choose who gets extra money aside from their company's wage?

Am i uncivilized because I believe it's the employers responsibility to pay the employee?

Are you uncivilized if you don't tip me after you were to receive a service from the company I work at depending on the number of people who deem it acceptable not to?

I am so confuse :frown:

you definately missed the sarcasm on her part. I used to deliver pizza, did the same when people would give crappy tips

I give $2 with most deliveries, Chinese food mostly. Sometimes if its $6.79-$7.00 or whatever I just tell em keep the change. They probably need it more than me anyway.

I tip my Chinese food delivery guy pretty well, if we order we ALWAYS get it within 20 minutes. Good relations.

Yeah i tip well now. I dont eem care about the percentages i just give whatever i have in my pocket once at dennys our order was like 40 bucks and i handed her 60 bucks and this was at like 4 am and she thought i was sleepy and miscounted but i told her nah thats a tip and then she handed me back the money and had my friend pay  what a wierdo
