Giving Tip for Delivery?

So all I am getting from this is get rid o minimum wage and make it a tip based society ?

Yay this thread again.

On a random note F gratuity though. I went to some restaurant in Vegas with about 8 other people a few weeks ago. The service was pure crap, rude waiter, he spilled drinks and didn't say sorry, made stupid jokes towards one of the people in our group, took forever to bring drink refills and forgot to give everyone forks initially.

When the check came that gratuity was on there. Everyone gave me their cut for the meal in cash since it was no splitting the bill and I paid for it on my card but didn't tip. I didn't want to be that one guy out the group making a scene so I waited until we all split up. I went back up there asked to speak to management and told them how poor the service was and if the gratuity wasnt refunded I would be calling my credit card company and filing a partial chargeback. I explained in detail how bad the waiter was. The manager straight up told me that this wasnt the first complaint he got about him. He refunded the gratuity charge plus my meal and drink.

Delivery under 10.00 = 2.00

Delivery between 10-25 = 3.00

Delivery between 25-50 = 5.00

It's crazy how a forum full of dudes who drive M3s can be such bad tippers.
I think some of you over think things just to justify you not tipping.

It's not that hard.

If I order take out I always tip. I always make sure to have enough for the food and tip. I always tip my barber, bartenders, people who pump my gas (New Jersey), I tip the dudes that dry my car after a car wash...**** like that.

I don't tip ups delivery people, door men and hookers.

I'm not gonna get into this argument but to the Barbers of NT... How much is a good tip on a $15 cut?  I usually drop my guy $20 and call it a day.

Why are y'all tipping your mail men though and garbage men? Those are good Government jobs, they probably make more than you (not NTers but regular people). Unlike bartenders or waitresses who could give you extra something if they know you as a good tipper, they can't compensate you for extra compensating them like make your mail come faster or collect your trash on extra days.

The whole thing is stupid. What makes the "service industries" so special they can't just calculate their overhead, profit margins, employee wages, etc. into the price ahead of time like everyone else?

Jesus Christ people want tips for every arbitrary thing possible. Next thing you know, people will want a tip for breathing.

People actually tip mailmen, garbagemen and deliverymen? Welp too late for me to start now.

Cab drivers only get a tip if they entertain me with small talk or help me take suitcases in and out of the car.
what do you have in those suitcases, b?

You tip your barber/hairdresser

You tip your mailman/garbageman during the holidays

You tip you cab drivers

You tip waiters/waitresses

You tip delivery men

These are things your parents should have taught you

i disagree

the mailman does't even carry packages ... leaves the slip in the box and then acts like you weren't hope ... USPS is notorious for this... why would i tip lousy service

cab drivers don't stop to pick me up ... not even going to go there ... i'll probably use them 4 to 5x a year ... that's a whole different discussion ... black men in nyc ...

waiters get paid lousy so i don't mind ... but if they act they like they're entitled, doing a lousy job, cannot tell me anything about the menu, don't refill water, etc... i'm just supposed to give them extra .... no

delivery men ... ehhhh ...

barber ... of course ....

it really depends ... but tipping ain't about just doing it or you should b/c your parents taught you ...get out of here w/ that nonsense ... you have to earn it

My girl get's mad when I tip well.
She doesn't want to understand that my brother's were once waiters and they'd tell me about how some people would tip little to nothing at all.
They always told me to leave 20% no matter the service. That's how people live.
Also, that if I wasn't going to tip might as well take it to-go.
My brother's waited tables when they were in high school.

read what you just wrote ...

20% no matter what ... that's how people live ... so b/c i want to try out that new restaurant w/ my chick after a hard week of work,
but get poor service ... i'm supposed to just be like well... you were rude to me, my water wasn't refilled, you messed up my order, etc....
but here is 20% ... b/c you gotta live ...

but then be psychic and know that because i demand good service, that i'm probably not going to get it and only do take out so that when i get
back to my place the food will know longer be warm ...

be objective ... it doesn't matter that your family waited tables ... great servers that are attentive and courteous and know the menu well and can answer
questions get tipped better and it should be that way /story

Agreed with everything besides garbage men. They get sooo much overtime during the winter in NYC and don't do **** during it. My garbage didn't get picked up for weeks at a time. Not a bad gig for 90k+ a year...

 I feel you but I tip them so when they inevitability spill trash on my front lawn they don't do a half *** job with picking it up

I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you.
What if...

You just tipped whatever your heart desired to tip
smile.gif
Then I'd never tip anyone and the chinese food guy would slip a rat tail or foot into my plain fried rice
