The Internet is Saved - The FCC has ruled in favor of Net Neutrality

There's a huge movement, I mean people are calling and even camping out @ the FCC. These political 'leaders' are selling out for a measly 26k from the cable lobby. The only way this stuff changes is getting money out of politics, but that won't happen.

Though I can't say I disagree...

Not the time or the place. Let's keep this topic clean & clear so that people can stay focused on the important topic at hand.

No idea why people are so affected by my views.

Trust me, this has zero percent chance of this happening in our lifetime.

:rolleyes

In the last two years alone, Congress has made many attempts to pass legislation that extends over the internet. SOPA, PIPA, and now this.

First the RIAA/MPAA tried to do it themselves, then they went to Congress, and now Comcast & Co are trying to do it through the FCC.

This will not go away until one of two things happens: 1. The old people who don't understand the internet are voted out of office or 2. We get money out of politics.

Trust you? The financed luxury vehicle while making $1300 a month guy? No. I declined your offer and will not be trusting you.

I work in home services for one of these cable giants and you guys would be surprised how scared companies are of Google.

My homeboy's dad works for Comcast, he stays saying "**** gets real when Google buys Fios off of Verizon"

pardon my ignorance, what does this mean?

It means that Google is not doing Google Fiber as a experiment/side project. They are serious about becoming a major ISP

Comcast doesn't want to be forced to have to offer great service at a great price. They can compete against Fios now because Fios is kinda expensive.

But they got no hope of attracting customers against Google Fiber level service.

You sir are very well informed! I hope you are enlightening others that need to here this. We need more people to wake up to what's really going on.

:smh:

tldr

so how much harder will it be to cop on release day like no point?

It still baffle's me how greatly we out number our government/military yet we allow a select few to make decisions for us. Other country's don't play that. Why are we letting this go down?

cause when we protest we sit down, link arms, and camp out for a couple weeks. or we sign petitions.

other countries ... **** goes down.

All I know about google fiber is that it's incredibly fast and only available in a couple cities. What's stopping it from expanding nationwide and how would Comcast put it to an end?

AT&T purchased DirecTV so this is another step in the wrong direction for the consumer. Cable and internet prices will increase.

it takes time to roll out the infrastructure for fiber

Comcast will try to block it with legislation, lobbying, rules, and good ol' fashion lawyers...

I remember when AT&T UVERSE first came out I had no contract and a great price. Then all of a sudden my price increased to the level of other companies. I called them and they said that plan was unavailable now and that I can switch to an introductory price with a  year contract.  I felt like they scewed me with no Vaseline.

Laying a fiber network is very time consuming and costly. But the worst part is the local bureaucracies which in some places actively try to block it. That's why Google makes cities pitch to them. They don't want the headache of dealing with politics for just a side project

Comcast basically buys off state and especially local governments to block fiber rollout in their territory. Verizon complained about that too.

Verizon halted Fios because it was getting too expensive and they weren't making cash off of it they thought they would.
