QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

Luck definitely off to a rough start this year. Could be one of those years where injuries linger and his okay never reaches the elite level

I'm just glad I got off the Luck wagon last year. Can't even imagine what being a fan of that turnover machine scrub feels like.

It's like these people NEEDED these 3 games.

I couldn't be more clear, thru 3 years, 48 games, there was nothing wrong with his performance.

This year, 3 games, he has struggled. No one has said he hasn't. But that doesn't invalidate his first 48. That ain't how it works.

Thru 48, he was nowhere close to a "turnover machine" but these 3, he has been. So they want this narrative to speak for his whole body of work, and that's flat out stupid.

It's equivalent to an NBA guy playing 3 seasons averaging 10 points a game, then year 4, 3 games in he scores 30 points three straight and people wanna label him an elite scorer. No, that's a hot streak.

Luck, to start the year, is on a cold streak.

Last year, and the year before that, he had 25 INT's in 32 games, in around 1,200 passes. To go with nearly 8,000 yards and 65 or so TD's. (Doin this off my head, please fact check for exact totals)

Body of work > 3 games. I know you ESPN hot takes sheep read that backwards, but not everyone is that slow.

Andrew Luck has thrown 2 interceptions in 7 of his last 10 games.

Since the start of the 2014 season( 19 games or 21 games)

Andrew Luck leads the league in turnovers.

We can't act like his first 48 games were all flawless though . He had some bad games here and there but not as consistently as recently over the last year. I don't see anything wrong with saying that he's more of a Favre than say a Peyton though,I wouldn't consider that a knock.

It's been implied that it is a career this type narrative. That said it's also been hard for Luck supporters to admit he is playing like poo and needs to improve his game. Anyone in the know, how concerning is this injury? Type to linger skeins?

A cold streak that's lasted since last year?

Nobody said this represents his whole career man, that's you adding **** to the narrative for whatever reason.

Andrew Luck could throw 30 interceptions this season and he will find a way to cap for him.

You know when Andrew puts together a 2-3 game hot streak, which is very likely playing against the Texans, Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans and Saints, we will hear all about it and they'll be no mention of sample size.

Yeah he isn't a precision, Brady/Montana type thrower at this point. Not a bad thing, many elite QBs aren't like that

Do we know what this is called?

Hasselbeck's first pass last night came on 2nd-and-8, empty set with multiple short routes. He was able to get rid of ball immediately to TE

Second attempt, roll pocket away from Clowney short throw to sideline that was well covered by Joseph.

Third is a screen to Moncrief. He does well to gain three yards, facemask gives offense a first down:

Roll the pocket, easy throw to curl route. Andre Johnson turns upfield turning six yards into 23:

Twice on the first drive they rolled away from Clowney while giving Watt extra attention. Neutralized pass rush, put focus on DBs.

The Texans had Clowney in coverage twice on the opening drive. IND went after him by rolling away from Watt and throwing to his man in RZ

On Andre's touchdown, Watt was doubled and Clowney was in coverage. Texans were badly outcoached on the first drive.

Quick play action with shortened comeback routes to either side and extra protection in pocket. Wide open, easy throw

Cian Fahey ‏@Cianaf now
4th-and-inches, roll the pocket again. Andre schemed open for a easy first down and 10-yard gain:

Looks like the Colts coaches have simplified the playbook for the offense to help Matt Hasselbeck. These aren't calls/plays that they ran with Andrew Luck.

They also went with some max protects, with 7 men blocking. Again, not something they did much for Luck. Note, Frank Gore also getting more yards with the added blockers vs when Luck was in there.

Play worked for Texans, but again a dumb penalty. Watt bumped Hasselbeck way after he had thrown the ball.

That's a great play by Hasselbeck, but also a great example of Pep's play calling. He has his WRs going deep in these situations normally.

Shortened routes, extra protection, quicker designed throws.......

4 15 yard penalties by the Texans as well.

"Same players, same coaches" tho. :rolleyes

All about ball protection, not anything to do with schemes or playcalls tho. :rolleyes

Fact check tho
