live in a two story 1800 sqft home by myself and my girl stays over sometimes, last bill was like 87 bucks, when I had roomates we would avg like 125-140, so 87 seems alittle high. During that month I would leave the AC on like 80 all day, but I`m in the south so I realized my AC would run all day trying to keep the house at 80 since its like 93+ outside.

On days I`m alone I was going to leave AC off all day then when I get off work turn it on for like 3-4 hours to cool the house then turn it off when I sleep ( I keep the ceiling fan on in my room)

out side of AC only things that are plugged in and run all day is my wireless router/modem/printer and flood lights at night outside the crib.

I wash clothes 1-2 times a month usually doing 2 big loads. On days my girl is over I do leave AC on while we sleep just so shes comfortable but I thug it out otherwise. I`m just trying to find tips because my home is all electric so its not like I`m going to see it cut in half when winter comes.

That's It! Our bill hits damn near $300 in the summer and that's w/o AC. The main appliance that uses the electricity is the fridge, especially in the summer so count yourself lucky.

I'm not sure how much lower you want to get because $87 a month is pretty low. My house is the same size as yours and I pay $100 - $150 a month in Maryland. But to answer your question, I've heard of some people getting down to as little as $40 - $50 a month by using a window A/C unit.

This... I am in same area and its just my wife and I in a pretty decent size home, our average bill per month is around $130 and we run ac constantly at 72 degrees. OP how much lower do you want it to get?... I mean its already pretty low

Standby is a killer on electricity

Yea I always make sure my mac is off the charger when I`m not home.

And lol I figured my bill should be about 60 something for one person if when I lived with 2 other people we were in the 120-130 range

being all electric should I assume my bill wouldnt really go up in Winter? Atlanta only really faces a 1-1 1/2 month winter (end Dec - Early Feb), when I lived in places that used gas the light bill would go down to like 40-50 bucks since AC was never used, not sure how it will be now. I mean I can thug it out and sleep in sweats but I mean for when I have company lol

Taking donations

A new ac system would cut it down but you'd need money upfront and you can get tax rebates. Switch your lighting to led, timers on your appliances work as well

We get charged 15.72 a day in this crazy PHX heat. Taking donations as well. I got 9 people breathing in my crib so the only solution is to work harder!

I pay $24-$28 a month in socal :pimp: low to mid 80s all summer. I only get the sun on my side of the apt after like 3-4pm so I stay cool. no need for a/c, a fan will do

Turn down your water heater, just a notch.

That electric is needed to heat up water you're barely going to use.

It'll save you a lot of money.

Cut my light bill in half :pimp:

I keep my AC between 76-79. But it's on a great schedule. I have a Nest thermostat and it's great to see how much energy you're using. I have a 2200 sq. foot house and my bill is around $71 per month.

My bill is between 35 and 50,but I'm in an apartment. I turn everything off when I leave and only keep in lights I need when I'm home. Climate control is used whenever necessary.
