@EthanJSkolnick .... (6th) Finally, if Wade went anywhere, at any point, I've typically heard L.A. as an option. But I still expect Heat to sort this out.
Towns, Randle, Kobe, Wade and Clarkson! :wow: :wow: :pimp:

:nerd:
Why have just one broken down, previously electrifying guard when we can have TWO?! :smokin
This is the darkest timeline for us, Ska.

Kobe in Newport last night.

Told a couple people to calm down, hes trying to eat.  By a couple people, I mean us.
This is pretty dope

@LiCeNseD To BaLL  I just realized this is a good time to say that your angus was properly peppered.

HAYL nah. He would have chucked us out of games and beefed with Shaq, which we really couldn't have won with.

Wait, I did that way wrong...

Wow. You're delusional if you think we win even 1 ring with Melo let alone the 5 we won with Kobe.

I get you don't like him and dot like what he stands for, but not being grateful for the 5 rings and the 20 years of hard work he brought? I don't get you, old man.
I was hoping for a serious answer :rolleyes
Nnnope. You will get a Lakers thread answer.

And in other threads, you will get an answer that is mindful that I am an active poster in the Lakers thread.

*shrugs*

I'm not a fan, and I do not have the opinion that it had to be him.

All I'm saying.

If I say Kidd, I knew the responses that will come. If I say Melo, I know. Tmac? Don't waste your time, CP; I already know. Jesus, Rip, Iverson, whoever. I already the individual responses for all of them.

*edit* See? "You're delusional."

"5 rings he brought." HE.

HIM.

All by himself.

HE brought.

But I'm delusional.

Bron has brought Cleveland to the Finals, twice.

Kobe has never brought us anywhere. Not just him. By himself. Just him. 'He'? No.

I wasn't going to criticize you for your opinion or call you names.

I might not have agreed, but I was genuinely interested in your thoughts on that matter, I was really in the mood to discuss it thoroughly that's all.

It's probably my fault tho, I know we joke around and get on each other a lot in this thread so I can see why you wouldn't wanna bother speaking rationally about my question.

All good.

 naw, my plates would say CP1708 :pimp:

As for what LTB/Ska talkin about, Ray Allen is the only player I would consider. Just because of his shooting, but, he was never the defender or ball handler Kobe was.

AI wouldn't even come close to a good fit.
TMac skill wise, but forever hurt, not the same work ethic. He + Shaq work ethic = Clipper-esque success.
Pierce, maybe somethin, but slower game, didn't have the speed/open court game Kobe could provide.

Kidd would have made Shaq greater feedin the ball, but horrible spacing and zero 5 on the clock create something ability Kobe had.

Ray lacked a few things Kobe gave us, but his shooting would truly add a piece too, he might have overcome some of those shortings.

@EthanJSkolnick Some preliminary thoughts on the early contract impasse, first reported by @flasportsbuzz, between the Heat & Dwyane Wade (1st)...

@EthanJSkolnick ... (2nd) Some Heat officials had held out hope Wade would take the Dirk, Duncan approach late in career: below-market, 1-year deals....

This is why I'm never on that side that tells players to take a pay cut. Wade took less in 2010, played a big role in them getting LeBron and he took less last off-season after they lost LeBron. Now the Heat wanna take advantage of it. It can't be one side that's showing loyalty.

Keep getting them checks Kobe.

"AI wouldn't even come close to a good fit."

Agreed. For me, Iverson will go down in my memory as the must talented cancer I've ever seen. I know his fans struggle with the cancer part, but when it comes to work ethic, welcoming new arrivals, grooming rooks, handling pressers, etc, AI was the opposite of what needs to be done. But DAMN was he talented. I mean, DAMN. Of all the people out there that would collectively be considered a cancer, he's the most talented by far. Of all the people out there that would collectively be considered uber-talented, he's easily the most troublesome to a team.

"TMac skill wise, but forever hurt, not the same work ethic."

Hard to argue that. Can't help the injury part; dudes like Griffey & Hill & Tmac, not their fault they couldn't stay healthy. But Hill, for example, from all accounts I've heard, dude still worked his tail off. Heard the opposite for Tmac. And that's something I've never taken away from Kobe.

"Kidd would have made Shaq greater feedin the ball, but horrible spacing and zero 5 on the clock create something ability Kobe had."

I think this one creates the most different look for us. I think with all others, our offense, our defense, our roster, our history the last 15 years could be still kinda the same. With Kidd, it would all be way different. We would need prolific scorers, something we've never needed with Kobe. Kidd would have provided the greatest passing we've had since Magic, by far. And as a rebounding PG, but a non-threat to score, we would have looked wildly different, on some Butterfly Effect vibe.

"Ray lacked a few things Kobe gave us, but his shooting would truly add a piece too, he might have overcome some of those shortings."

I can see that. Essentially, you think Ray would have been the best fit, I think Kidd. Again, no point in adamantly presenting a case, because it's all just talk.

But to the original question, L2B, I think Melo would be disappointing. I think we win multiple rings with Pierce, Kidd, or Ray. But AI, Tmac, & Melo? I can see one ring off the strength of Shaq & Phil, but Melo doesn't care enough, imo. I don't even consider Kobe a volume shooter anymore, and I consider Melo the last of the volume shooters, and I don't think it's a coincidence that the Kicks are terrible; I think it's because of that.

So essentially, despite being a volume shooter in my opinion, Kobe brought other things to the table that championship teams needs, and Melo literally brings now of them to the table. Work ethic? Leadership? Grooming rooks? Figuring out FAs once they arrive? Improving his own basketball iq? Dissecting the defense? No, no, no, no, none of that.

before you guys go at ska for his kobe hating, keep in mind that he feels the same way about MJ. replace mj with kidd and they pretty much do just as well or something like that

so its not kobe he hates, its the type of player kobe is

Well that's not true at all, but I'm not even having this discussion with you.

'MJ = Kobe, so your opinion of one should mirror the other' is not something I believe.

At all.
