Way all the Nick Young hate? He had a bad year last season but he was no doubt the best player on the team the year before.... ?

I don't hate him personally like others, but it's time to let our young core get minutes and grow.

Nick just wouldn't be helpful for us developing the youngins, especially with so many liabilities to his game...
and he's too expensive to be sitting on the bench.

We don't need him, so it's obviously smart to get rid of his contract and bring in pieces like Bass who can bring other skills to the table and also compliment our young players games.

Wit the team struggling to score last year I don't think he's that bad of a piece to bring off the bench.I feel like we do need him. Lots of unknowns with Randle and Russell and at least we know Youngs a scorer. His contract doesn't tie up too much money imo.....But with Lou Williams now coming I do see why they would trade him and how it could benefit the team.

Would love to see a miracle trade and Mitch totally redeem himself. We've been a laughing stock for too long

Youre right, we could use his scoring if we hadn't gotten Lou and Bass.
Absolutely.

But since we are getting them, like you said we have plenty of scoring options now.

They aren't amazing options, but they're much better than what we had last year.
Circumstances have changed, so he almost hurts us now more than helps.

A vet SF in return would be nice. I think the team is still lacking there. Kobe at SF all year is a big question mark. Heck, Kobe playing all year is a question mark itself.
If Mitch unloads Kelly, Sacre and Young for something decent, I'd give him B - for the summer.

For how free agency started, Mitch has done a nice job redeeming himself. Still needs more work, but Lakers are headed in a better direction.

Raptors just gave Corey Joseph 30 mil

I know he plays defense, unlike Lou...but that deal still makes ours look even better.

Great value Mitch :smokin

i agree. never thought we'd get any of the big names. i'm skeptical about the lou will move, but if we trade nick young in the process, it should work out all right (plus 6 man the best track off that album).

the only move i'm really bummed about is letting boss go on what seems as a reasonable deal.

all we need is a decent SF. even after how everything went down, i'll consider this offseason a success.

I agree on boss.
That one hurt.

To think he could of stayed for online 3/21 really stings :frown:

Kobe going to play 40 minutes a game again at SF and end his career in December

Serious question.

If Kobe somehow gets the Lakers to the playoffs, even as an 8th seed (in the west)... In his 20th season, at age 40... Off a knee fracture and torn Achilles...

Does that warrant any serious mvp consideration?

He actually turns 37 next month, and nope the sport writers and media who vote for regular season MVP award won't give it to him.

Just like when they shafted him in 05-06 when he averaged 35 ppg and carried that Laker team of bums into the playoffs and nearly upset Phoenix in the 1st round.

They'll never give Kobe another MVP.

He'll have to settle for Finals MVP's.

My biggest argument for why the MVP is a pointless and meaningless award is Shaq and Kobe have as many MVP's as Nash has combined, and Lebron has like 800.

But he won't get it. I think this is Anthony Davis' year

Depends on his FG percentage for me. I have no doubt he'll still give us like 20. Question is on how many shots. Couple that with like 5 to 6 easy assists. And bam.

Guys stop getting your hopes up. Nick young wont be traded. Nobody wants him. I can see mitch dumb self trading clarkson before trading trick young

Bass is probably the starting 4. His signing proved to me what I thought Mitch was thinking. Randle in the LO role.

You seriously think our prized 20 year old lottery pick from last year won't start and will be relegated to a role Odom had late in his career?

There is no way Bass will start over Randle. I guess we'll see.

This.

If we had Aldridge or cousins I could see that.

But I better not see Brandon ******* Bass take a single minute from Randle or I'm taking Byron out myself.

You guys gotta remember Randle is a rookie ...a rookie. No matter how much we want him to develop throwing him out there 48 min a game will only help so much. Randle has to earn everything. He has to earn his playing time over a proven professional veteran.
Besides I think Bass will be a good mentor for him.

Exactly.

No rookie besides Magic & Lebron could realy handle playing 35+ minutes and playing at a high level and making an immediate impact for they're teams.

Lebron's rookie year he had a crap team and had a free for all to put up crazy stats.

Magic's rookie season he had Cap, and Norm Nixon to help guide him.

Duncan's rookie season he had The Admiral to help guide him.

Why does everyone assume an older dude in the same position will just take a younger dude under his wing?
