Maybe, but if Doc had something to do with Blake's meltdowns in the 4th, then Doc had something do with how good he looked for the majority of the playoffs too.So did his coaching in the last two games. And he doesn't seem to very good at calming his players down when things start going badly. Not putting Blake's struggles all on Doc, but I feel like he should have done better job of keeping his focus and confidence up. There's now a pattern of meltdowns with this team. That has to say something about the coaching
If a team is able to take the defending champs to the brink and beat them, if a team is able to take a top west team to 3-1 and be up 19 towards the end of the 3rd quarter of the clincher, that team is capable of taking it all.
The Pelicans roster is incomplete.
The Celtics roster is incomplete.
The Jazz, Lakers, and 76ers rosters are incomplete.
Not the Clippers.
That was just a case of a solid roster not getting it done.
Don't take them all the way from contenders to a lottery status just to protect them from the criticism of having a solid roster that failed.
The Rockets or Warriors will not make the Finals. The Cavs or Hawks will not make the Finals.
Whoever doesn't... deserves ALL the criticism for having the potential but not arriving to the Finals.
On Zach Lowes podcast last week with JVG, JVG made an argument about how this responsibility shouldnt and doesnt live and die with the coach, and that theres only so much a coach can do to keep a players head in the game, if he's already lost the confidence. So did his coaching in the last two games. You either believe something within the core is the problem, or the surrounding parts are the problem. If you think the latter is the problem, (I do) then yeah Doc's gm abilities leave a lot to be desired.
Which is how I feel in a nutshell. Excellent post, but I expect nothing less from Zach.

Dwight Howard is not a leader by any sense of the word and has never been one, save maybe that NBA Finals trip with the Magic.
The rockets were nothing before Howard got there.
im just guessing at this honestly... but miamis bench was pretty trash these last 2 times we won. i dont know their numbers, but id venture to say they were a product of the lebron system.Once again, how is a roster complete when none of your bench players are actual NBA rotation guys?
They are all minus except Crawford.
What team has won with 6 guys?
Their starting 5 is complete and that's where it stops, yall dudes got blinders on.
Show me a team that's been successful with a bench that has all minus players, I'll wait.
After birdman went out in a Clips game, he had a big game.
doc had the chance to? smh hassan was a DIAMOND in the rough. imagine if he did. Deandre comes out and hassan goes in? NIGHTMARE!

Dirty drinking water
That's not revisionist history, that's been the predicted downfall of the Clips all year. This '6 guys' is revisionist history, and the history being revised JUST HAPPENED.
I watched every minute. I saw more than 6 guys regularly wear Clippers uniforms on the court, both in the playoffs and the regular season.
Could the bench have played MORE? Yes, and that's on Doc.
But was there literally just the starters & 1 reserve?
Not.
Even.
Close.
Haberstroh?

Steph Curry winning a ring would be pretty cool to see. When was the last time a mid major player won a finals MVP? Crazy. What a talent.
Typical Glen Rivers. Nothing is ever on him, EVER. Delusional
That's just it. The pieces aren't there. Their starting 5+1 can get you to 56 wins and the best offense in the league over the course of 82, but on the margins, the make up just isn't good enough. The only improvement that NEEDS to be made are basketball related decisions that result in scoring more points than the opponent.
The pieces are there; they just need to be used more effectively and they need to step up.
If Prigs & Corey Brewer & rejected Josh Smith can get it done, all roster excuses are out.
Hmmm...perhaps. But SDSU and Davidson are obviously on different tiers for sureKawhi Leonard?
It literally comes down to when your role players play well you win, when they don't you lose. When Reddick rivers and Crawford were hot, the Clippers won. When Smith Brewer Jones and Ariza were hot, the rockets won. Save all the other hot takes. Blake, Paul, Harden, Howard all did what they regularly do with minor deviations. When you start getting into "leader should've did this, star player should've did that" yall just sound like you've never played any competitive sport before. Yall spotlight the best player on either team and just start blaming that player thinking you're providing quality insight. Had the rockets lost would've been pages of "d12 isn't serious enough" and "playoff harden". It's like you work off of a script.
