I'm also not believing this. It makes no sense. JB has never scrapped an entire design. The only time they changed a design was when Jordan was retired and out of the loop for the design of the X and it ended up having that extra piece on the toe. Jordan saw that and said no and Nike changed the design to the now smooth toe.

I find it hard to believe that for such an important landmark signature shoe, Jordan wouldn't be involved to the point where the design was completely changed after he saw the finished product. I believe it was a manufacturing issue at the Italian factory. That issue was even spoke about when Tinker was interviewed in a video/article and said he had to travel to Italy for the issue and almost let some important design cue relevant to the issue of the XXX slip. There is no way its a takedown of the XX9. There's never been a sig model that's been based off or been a take down of another sig. The shoe is sure to have a new iteration of the flight plate and unlocked zoom, as well as a version of flight-weave but I'm sure thats it. C'mon now...lol

i highlighted the scrapped design as i have worked with the JB team for about 3 years and i have seen SEVERAL models scrapped post sample, i mean i have seen samples get 2-3 updates and still scrapped.

Okay, with that being said, can you comment as to what that was Marcus Jordan posted and took down not too long ago?

So can anyone confirm. All the sites say ther air Jordan 1 released 09/15/85?? Jordans first game that season was October 25 85 would this be the first time the air Jordan 1 was on court???? I have no clue just wondering

Nah, that's just to celebrate a new store opening. I'm sure all the other retailers would be pissed if JB unveiled the XXX at a FA only event.

There is a friends and family event going on Thursday night, so something could be revealed there...

this. we don't even really know if we'll see them all star break or not imo. it's all speculation at this point. JB could debut them in a surprise pack with 11s around Christmas time for all we know. that would surely spark some interest

September 15 1985? That is shortly before his 2nd nba season? I think he already wore the AJ1 black/reds in the slam dunk contest 1985 in February along his gold chain on his neck. MJ broke his leg early on his 2nd season.

This isn't the 1st signature Jordan to be delayed and launched into the new year since MJ retired. Didn't this just happen the past few years? Forgot which model but a 28 or 29? Or one of the calendar years when they switched to those.

It was the 29. They delayed them from Feb 2014 to Sep 2014. They claimed that the reason would be that athletes and school kids would demand new shoes at the start of a new season.
Now they just changed it again. Sounds to me like dumb advertising like apple claiming the iPhone 5 the perfect size, and for iPhone 6 they just made them as big as the Samsung phones.
There goes the consistency ^^

i think it's just marketing.

whatever they do with the 30 needs to be on par or better than the xx9. the xx9 is already regarded as probably the best performance basketball shoes of all time. the 30 needs to be a lot better or it will flop.

I remember they were very secretive about the Jordan ,2011.... Looks like they got rid of the moles and nonsense out of some of their factories

don't think this is true. I can't remember a year which no new Jordan came out. assuming they don't pop out of nowhere around Christmas time which I believe they might, this would be the first year with no new sig.

there was no new Air Jordan for the 2013-2014 season. it took them nearly 2 years before they announced the xx9. the xx8 was announced in Dec 2012 and went on sale Feb 2013. we didn't get the xx9 until September 2014.

ok. the Jordan 2012 came out in 2012. the 28 came out in 2013 and the 29 in 2014. If we don't get the 30 this year, 2015 would be the first year with no new Jordan, no?

There was also no new AJ shoe in 2000. XV released in December 1999, XVI released in February 2001.

I remember people saying the XV could be the last AJ because of that.

I had to look this up. It was between the XV (15) and XVI (16). From the 15s and earlier they released over the NBA season. So you'd get models/colors for regular season and playoffs along with the NBA season which spans two calendar years. The 15 was over the 1999/2000 season. The 16s came out in 2001, so 2000 saw no new Jordan model. Granted it wasn't a full 12 month delay but broke the seasonal pattern. But starting with the 16s they released in Feburary. The 28s were released in Febuary 2013 following suit, but then the 29s released at the end of the year in September 2014, so another delay of 7 months.

The air Jordan 1 was released in 1984, unless I'm missing something (and not being cute just counting the years) it's actually the 31st year, but we've only had 29 models as of this post.

If the 30s don't release this calendar year 2015, I'd be a bit surprised since it's being marketed as the 30th anniversary, not celebrating the 30th model.

Edit: just seeing the post above mine and maybe my years are off.....its late and I have an early flight.....
