What's a good leg opening for denim

I'd get 6". That's what all my jeans are and we wear the same shoe size.

However, VERY IMPORTANT, if you are altering dress pants/slacks DO NOT go below 7". Learned this lesson the hard way.

Would the 6" shrink drastically once I wash my jeans?

If you're worried about your jeans shrinking then I would wash and dry them however you normally would, THEN get them tailored.

explain please. I need to get all my dress pants tailored

Denim stacks and a smaller leg opening will help you get stacks. Dress pants are meant to have a clean break straight down the entire leg. So, if you get your dress pants leg opening tailored to the same size as your denim you are going to have issues. I did this and I was getting knee bunches (should NEVER happen with dress pants) and it just made my dress shoes look too big. Basically I was pulling down my pants below the knees to get rid of the knee bunch up. Pants looked fine when I first put them on but as soon as I started walking around I realized a made a huge mistake. A good rule of thumb is to stay at 7" or 7.5" for dress shoes. Never go below 7", ever. But I'm a smaller guy so that may be bad advice for the bigger guys.

Bring them to a tailor and have them measure it out for you.

I keep forgettin how @doublemesh96  gets down.

This thread is full of  .

Wash your jeans (so they shrink before you get them altered) and head to the tailor and they will put pins to show you what they will look like (while youre still wearing them) and you get to advise them on exactly how you want them to fit/look. They will then follow the pins/marking when they alter them.

You dont have to give them an exact number as you hand them some your pants.

All my jeans leg opening is 6 inches, some jeans 5.8 but that's only for jeans with some kind of stretch in them

This is how my pants look, I feel as if they are to bunched up on the ankle however my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy and says they look normal
Cuff them twice.

No need to do a hem. Jeans already look tapered as is.
