I believe it's because the studio hasn't done its standard meddling. Often, a studio will focus group the hell out of a potential blockbuster franchise so it hits a bunch of cues. They do it at the expense of scripts and decent story telling. The studio didn't even have faith in the first one (they pushed it to an August release) so the writers and director had more freedom.

That ape that was loyal in part 1 and took one for the team to take out the helicopter > part 2 as a whole.

I thought it was just me. I fell to sleep so many times during the 2nd. It took me a while to get through that whole movie.

Is this a completely new reboot to the franchise? Or is this the prequel to the original Planet of the Apes? I know in the last film, the spaceship to Mars left earth, so I've been assuming this has been a reboot...But I read in some reviews that this is a prequel to how Planet of the Apes began. 

Kinda confused lol

I mean this could be a prequel to the films. The way there are doing it, it's lining up pretty good.

And if that's the case, humans are going to lose

But it's probably a remake since Cesar has a totally different story in the sequels.

It would probably be a different Caeser anyway because the original is set pretty far off in the future. They could easily retcon the sequel Caeser into being a descendant of the current one.

In that article I read, it said that these movies are in fact a prequel to the original story. Since these have been successful; I imagine the next installment will be far into the future.

LOOKS AMAZING!

every year these movies come out, it's at the top of my list.

crazy how they make you connect with CGI characters like that

they gonna have to give Serkis an Oscar an at some point, dude is too good.
