To my OGs, what one thing do you wish you had known about life when you were in your 20s?

This one is a REAL gem only because MOST people wont do it;

Want to lose weight? Then fast.
Your digestive system is not made to eat breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner repeat everyday. We dont digest food fast enough for that.
You have to give your body a rest and a chance to clear out what's already in it. Otherwise it turns to fat.

Add to that the types of foods we're eating, with all the preservatives, GMOs, growth hormones and it is a perfect storm of fat storing.
Abs come from the kitchen

Folks are greedy in the States...Grow up poor or in a Third World Country; don't have problems like obesity!

Income does not equal wealth

I'm 31

Patience is better than Pride

Save Money, Then save some more. Spend after you save

Don't look for validation from other people

Happiness does not come from material things

Family(immediate family; wife children) over everything

Your mother/father is not always right. Sure they have wisdom , just be sure to trust your gut.

True friends are very hard to come by.

Be strong minded, and tough. It's cool to shed a tear, but be able to pull yourself back up, and push through.

Porn sex is not real sex.

Shoes, clothes don't mean [emoji]128169[/emoji]

If you find a girl you really like, and she reciprocates that back, and she has your back, treat her right. Thots are fun, but eventually you will want something real and they will all be spoken for.

School is not for everybody, no matter what people say. I know plenty of broke college grads. You still have to sell yourself, hustle, and work hard regardless of a diploma

You aren't entitled to anything, and other than your parents, no one gives a damn about you.

Enjoy the process, don't wait until you are established to appreciate the finished goal, life will pass you by.

You will lose people. It hurts

Keep your credit A-1

Some more gems from my struggles in life.

- If you can survive it, it will make you stronger.

- In the streets you have no friends. Trust me

- Evolution isn't always pretty.

- That isn't your girl, it's just your turn with her.

What kind of fasting :nerd:

Yeah this could be really detrimental if done improperly. Everyone's body is different and what we eat and breakdown is unique to each individual person.

Smaller portions? Sure
Better balance of what the body needs? Mos def

But straight fasting I dunno man
Intermittent fasting. 16-24 hours 1 or 2 times a week.
i still eat every single day. So if I eat before 5pm on Tuesday I eat after 5pm on Wednesday.
Its also important to work out DURING the fasted state which switches the body into fat burning mode(ketogenesis)
You LITERALLY pee the fat out of your body.

Our bodies will always use the newest energy that comes into our body. So most of the time by the time you are eating lunch which for many is only a few hours after they eat breakfast
the remainder of the food not broken down for energy is stored as fat. You have to give your body a rest period and a chance to use up the energy, and release fat deposits.

There are actually many useful health benefits that come with Intermittent Fasting (IF) too.
1. Reduced belly fat and weight loss
2. Reduced Oxidative Stress and inflammation
3. Reduce risk of Type 2 Diabetes by reducing Insulin resistence
4. It Changes the function of cells genes and hormones( drops insulin levels, raises HGH production, initiates cellular repair etc)
5. May have heart health benefits- IF has been shown shown to improve numerous different risk factors, including blood pressure, total and LDL cholesterol, blood triglycerides, inflammatory markers and blood sugar levels
6. Induces cellular repair processes like autophagy. Increased autophagy may provide protection against several diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
7. Extended lifespan

Our bodies are self healing. Our Immune systems filter and clean out our bodies of impurities all the time. But most of the foods we eat are completely acidic.
Our bodies have to deal with this and it takes resources away from doinfg things like protecting our bodies from disease.
Once you get all of the rotting food out of your stomach and get your body Alkaline, it can focus on healing itself.
Fasting helps with this.

The 2 benefits that I noticed from it is self control and being able to still eat ANY food.
I tell my body when to eat not the other way around. And I still eat things like pizza, PB&J sandwiches, fries etc.
I just make sure to have an 80/20 or 75/25 split of healthy vs non healthy foods on my plate.

I have personally lost 55 lbs doing this from March 2016 to November 2016, and am in the best shape I've ever been.

Nope. you never see a fat person over there. You dont see many fat models either.

I will say though, with both of those examples, they are literally starving and are going through ketoacidiosis which is extremely harmful to your body.
the body is breaking itself down foe energy but has used all the fat deposits and is looking for other sources.

It is important with IF to:
eat everyday
work out while in fasted state
make body alkaline
eat MOSTLY healthy

If you do those you are golden

Great thread OP. Maybe we should make one for "things you wish you'd known in life in your 30s".

Treat every job like it's your career.. develop a strong work ethic early.

Use LinkedIn and ask your professors / boss / supervisors to write referrals for you.

Take initiative. "It needed to be done" > "That's not my job"

Set realistic goals for yourself.
I wanted to graduate college by 23
Move out the house by 24
Career at 25
Married or dating someone I see myself marrying by 30

I'm 31 and just got married this year. 20s checklist complete.

Accept what you can't change

Just think about all the times when you stressed. There were things you can change and things you can't change. Stop wasting your time and energy stressing about the stuff that's out of your hand, and focus more about the things that you can change.

For example, don't ever trip off getting rejected by a female. It could be her because she might be crazy or something. Or it could be you. You might not have convey your point strong enough word to EDW, or you could be a lame or had a whack approach no offense. If it's you see it as a way to improve yourself or your approach. Game ain't even really game tbh. What we think of game is one's inner confidence and self-awareness where you're comfortable with the words you're saying to anyone. But that's a story or post for another day lol.

Another example is this past summer I had to give a best man speech for my best friend in High School's wedding. Most people would get nervous or stress because they have to do sum public speaking but I saw it as my opportunity to improve myself and to shine haha. I will admit that I am not the best public speaker (closer to being pretty bad imo), but I do have experience with giving speeches. I noticed is that all the speeches I gave that went well are the speeches that I practiced hella much and that all the speeches that I didn't do well on, I got nervous because I didn't practice or didn't practice enough. Whenever I was alone, such as in the car, taking a shower, etc, I kept practicing the speech out-loud so I could memorize it and get the delivery down. The day of the wedding, not only did I not get nervous or stress, but I killed it.

"I never fear about my skills because I put in work. Work ethic eliminates fear, so if you put forth the work then what are you fearing? You know what you're capable of doing and what you're not "

Early 30s now and honestly most of my headaches from my 20s stem from women :x

I'm going to make sure I drill into my son's head that women will always be there and pain is temporary

Also wish I knew money isn't the end all be all, some of my most happiest moments came when my bank account had less than $100 in it

The Same Things I Have Written On My Walls (31 BTW) I'll Share:

-Why Are You Here? (Ask yourself this about any/every situation/relationship/business deal/invite). If you can't answer this....you shouldn't be there.

-Ask Others the Question Above Too...If a person can't answer why they are with you or why the want to take you to a specific spot. Don't go. Drop them.

-Everything You Do For Others; Do It For Yourself As Well...Nobody Else Will.

-Delegation Is Great...Sometimes Nothing Beats Doing It Yourself Though.

-Have Supreme Confidence In Your Abilities; Work Ethic; Drive/Determination/Dedication

-Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial/Communication/Persuasive Speaking

-People Liking You Will Take You Far; Work That Angle

-Jokes Are Great...Just Don't BE One

-Spend Less Time Like Those On #NT Chasing Material Items......It really is quite pathetic.

-You Can Do Whatever, Whomever You Want....Like For Real.

-Power Of Choice.

-Power Of Consequence.

-Power Of Accountability.

-Be Assertive. Let Things Go...But DO NOT FORGET THEM. EVER.

-Help Others

-Pay It Forward

-DO NOT BE SELFISH SELF-ABSORBED SELF-LOATHING

-UNIVERSAL LAW

-The More You Give; The More You Get

-Invest

-Be Kind; Don't Be a D***

-Humility Is Great; But Throw It To The Side When Going After Yours...Just Never Forget Where You Came From or What It Was Like To Work Certain Places

I will try this. Are you allowed to drink water during those 16-24 hours?

Im 29 now...my biggest tip I can give every reaction doesnt deserve a reaction.... Trust me you eliminate a lot of ill negative vibes or harm just by walking away....swallow that pride...

Temper tantrums were in abundance for me when I was younger kinda got a rep for that now...even though Im a lot calmer now...especially when you got a lot to lose
