Niketalk, I Can Not In Good Conscience Recommend One Purchase Any Model KIA Motor Vehicle vol not on

I'm sure you could find a small garage who would provide you with all the receipts you need?

I feel like there is more to this story...like you're not reading the fine print, or something along those lines. Mistake after mistake (on your part,) and somehow this is all Kia's fault?

I find it crazy that you didn't get your maintenance done at the dealership if your service was covered under warranty....

Not more to the story. They've done it to others. Who said it was all their fault, sans for the not honoring their own warranty and using known defective engines?

You didnt get the oil changed Ever did ya OP? quit frontinggg

If someone told me the thing between me and 9k is some damn receipts.... im at jiffy lube right nowww

Paying 38k for any vehicle is absurd. 9k for a kia engine... absurd. I litterally traded my g35 w/ 90k miles in damn good condition for less than theyre trying to charge you for a kia engine replacement :x

Let this be a lesson younger brethren.

7 year loans. Absurd

Paying more than 15 racks for a KIA. Absurd

Serious question... how at 35k budget did you get talked into the KIA? You litterally coulda bought a tesla if it was about the tech/fuel economy. Or you coulda get pretty much any slightly used luxury sedan... Or like a subie sti... all of those vehicles was still be worth 2x,xxx.

Live and learn

Good luck

Not every 3k miles or is it 5 but yea I've had it changed. I could have easily forged receipts from my old car, but I didn't want to do that or think I needed to. My budget wasn't necessarily 35 from jump. I was going to get a regular Optima LX/EX or GDI, new but 1 yr old closeouts model so I was looking at around 17 for those iirc. Decided the idea of a hybrid appealed to me since I drive so much, plus I never had leather, sunroof, bluetooth radio, touchscreen I can say some **** to, etc. so I checked off every upgrade. Didn't know what life had in store for me with my girlfriend moving in so I took a longer loan to suppress the payments some and leave me more margins should I ever need it

So why aren't you at jiffy lube getting the service records? They should be keeping logs of that stuff.

I'm on my second kia now. But I also only lease mine. 2k own and $225 a month payments can't say I have any problems

Also I get all my maintenance at the kia dealer. They send plenty of coupons. An oil change is $25 and the rest of the stuff isn't any better than what you'd pay at another garage

Plus your insurance doesn't cover stuff like this ? Pay 1k deductible n get that fixed?

Not typically. However the only silverlining in this would be if he has Geico & carries MBI. More than likely we'd cover the claim since he's within 7 years 100k miles & a mechanic says it wasn't normal wear & tear.

You may have answered this, but why didn't you just get your maintenance done at the Kia dealership?

Secondly, you might be boned due to not having any service receipts or an itemized list of what was actually done to your car, and by WHOM (technician.)

If you're going to plan on taking action, the last thing you want to do is forge a document. You're grasping here, bud. Sorry that you're in this situation, but it was an L from the jump the second you paid for that car.

Every car that I've owned, I've saved every invoice/receipit and only shred the documents once I sell/trade in. You gotta protect yourself.

What you should be doing right now is calling the the places where you had your car serviced and see if they have a record of the work done on your whip. Right now, that might be your only chance. It's your word against theirs...and their word will trump yours especially if you don't have any proof of the work you said that was done on your car. What Kia can do is say that the work done was done carelessly, or that you didn't have your oil changed in the proper window, thus causing the engine problems. All of this could have been avoided had you just gone through the dealership for your maintenance.

Couple of lessons to learn here

-Dont buy a brand new car with every option then get a 7 year loan to be able to "afford" it
- Dont go to jiffy lube to save 5 dollars on a oil change once a year because it can end up costing you 9k for a new engine at Kia
- Check your oil for sludge if your not going to change it at the recommended intervals

And dont roll the 30k into another car please because you will be worse off then you are now

keep your Kia and let it be a reminder about the mistakes you have made

OP is not telling rhe whole story we've had teo threadsbabout this car already.

Ok Ok. I went outside and tried to set it on fire then that didn't work so i just took a hammer to the engine block. All the stuff about it being the subject of a previous class action suit because of an engine defenct and Hyundai's with the same engine being recalled were just coincidences that work out on my favor. Kia didnt fall for my jux.

I rented one of those when I was in Mississippi. You can catch it for like 15k. I liked it. Just get your service done at the dealership I guess although some of these people on carcomplaints.com were still denied after the dealership serviced it and they tell everyone the same thing, "sludge present in the engine."

I'm not suggesting to do anything crazy but do you have gap insurance?
It may differ depending on the gap insurance carrier, but I think gap only covers up to 150% of the value of the car. So if his car is worth $13k then gap will only cover $19.5k so OP still liable for more than $10k. Not to pile on you OP but this is one of the worst deals I've heard of.

You serious?

I don't think he is, just a snide response to the "more to the story" crowd, but that **** is oddly specific.

He's being sarcastic and only selectively answering questions.

Like why can't he get service records from jiffy lube? Still keeps ducking the question.

I mean that's $9k right there.

I know jiffy lube and damn near every shop keeps service records they can print out for you. They may not have a receipt, but they have that record. Dancing around such a simple thing is what has people perplexed.
