Neither should get a pass, but neither should be slandered either. Winning in the NBA is hard. Takes an incredible amount of good fortune. Both KD and CP lost to some incredibly good teams. Championship contenders for sure. It's not that black and white.

I just feel like what Phil was able to do, with multiple franchises, especially his 2nd tenure with LA, Kobe, Shaq, MJ, and Pip makes him the GOAT.

Those people are championship reductionists.

Tough for me to really believe that someone watching basketball closely could think that Phil or Pop is significantly better than another.

Exactly how I've felt for a long time. Just seems like Phil gets the MJ "better than anybody else who ever did it" treatment when someone else is showing us greatness.

You have to use the regular season to figure out what you have.
