I just don't understand how he can say both of BIGs joints is better than both of Pun's then say BIG never had nothing that make him go back and rewind. . . Does that make sense to you??

for reverse birth, every verse hurts, every curse word's
already more offending than Eddie Murph's worst

His delivery was versatile .... the way it switched up on a beat and what he was saying was just
Big has verses but nothing that will make you gosay to yourself

Thank you sir.
I don't think Harlem's opinion is gonna change, so let's just say both were ridiculously nice MC's who will be missed greatly. RIP to both.

when it came to that smooth, cool %+%+, you can argue that noone did it better than Biggie. The thing about Biggie is that he while he was great at some aspects (flow, putting songs together, his ear for beats) he was good at everything, its his total package that makes him argueably the best to ever to do it. however because he was good at everything his fans tend to overrate some of the atributes of his game.
to say Biggie was a better lyricist than Pun is disrespectful to both men imo, because you are more than likely taking this stance because of his name and not his skill which does the game a disservice, and the same could be said in reverse concerning songs. What most fail to separate is that you can say "atrist A" was better than "artist B" at something and still believe that "artist B" is better overall. Thats the problem with hiphop fans imho we allow our favoritism to prevent us from acknowledging that another artist may be better at something. It has to be all or nothing, and coincidentally you usually only see this when it comes to Big or Jay, which leads to people taking shots at them and disrespecting their status.
food for thought... do the dishes.

He gave it to Jay... in person. (Jay who is widely accepted as K.O.Ny)
He was going to go at 50, and we all know Pun doesn't play
those 2 are the biggest names in hip hop, him being alive would have made more of a difference to the hip hop scene than biggie (IMO)
also, Biggie has been reproduced, through Jay, through Jada, and through plenty others but none have kept it as lyrically impressive(with dark humor) as pun
he still had underground appeal (check the featuring spots he had on his platinum album)
Eminem paved his way through the underground and left it as soon as he could, even leaving Royce to dry.
Pun was still working with street cats, still freestyling, and still in the clubs putting guns to Djs.
I'm not saying Pun's impact was greater (he was doing something that was done before, just way more impressive and acceptable) but I'm saying he would have been WAYYYYY more of a problem then BIG

I mean, this thread is only 7 pages long? there must be some valid pointsOriginally Posted by McFlyyy
i had one of my hispanic boys argue with me about how pun was the GOAT
no, capital punishment isn't classic
and nowyou're just wrong
pun didn't change hip-hop, he didn't drop some culture defining album
I am willing to give you that. For the most part he stuck to the script of what a rapper SHOULD BE,lyrical, authentic, witty, with a monster flow.
with that said... thats good enough for me, to not stray, blatently sell out, or give mediocre performances onfeaturing spots like most rappers do.

what?
did pun invent double time rhyming? people were rapping fast before him and people are rapping fast now
did he open the door for hispanics in hip-hop? no
what did he do?
you should have said that in the beginning, thats not wild of an opinion, but instead you said hispanics D-ride him.Originally Posted by McFlyyy

The reason why hip hop is %+*##+ up is because of some of yall cats, its cool to give Pun props because he deserves all the props he gets and more . . . But to say Ns is #%%! riding BIG is straight up disrespectful and something you should deffinetly type and not say in person because it will get you snuffed in most places (rightfully so), I mean BIG did SOOOOO much for the game, and you got ninjas that are upset when he gets that respect . . . You don't see so-called Rock Fans sayin Bruce Springstein this or that, they just pay their legends respect as they should . . . Yall stupid muh !++**#! just wanna disrespect BIG, then have the nerve to suck Jay Zand that's not takin ANYthing away from Jay, but lets be serious . . . Hip hop is jam packed with jelous, disrespectful punks and THAT'S why the game is %+*##+ up now . . . And then let someone say Soulja Boy is good yall wanna get all KRS One on them, then in the SAME breath say BIG gets too much love . . . That sounds like bitterness to me, and you can thank yourself for contributing to the death of hip hop . . . When you disrespect BIG, you're disrespecting hip hop and one of its fallin soildiers PERIOD. And you just look stupid . . . The majority of hip hop fans hold him in high regard, there's no mistake here, some of you are just mad your favorite rapper doesn't get the respect BIG does . . .
When it comes to the Most respected in the genre, BIG is deffinetly up there, so how can you call yourself a fan/contributer/supporter of hip hop and disrespect his legacy?? It just makes you look stupid. No other way to say it . . .
Pay respects to your eldors and those that paved the way for the culture, cause when you disrecpect BIG, you disrespect the whole genre and all its fans, artists, and contributers . . . These Ns got on the @%##%*! cross for us and you wimps wanna disrespect . . . That's just the behavior of a child. Yall need to grow the !+%% up, because when yall death day comes, you're gonna want to get ALL the respect you deserve you don't Ns sayin "oh he's d-riding" yall sound like broads with that %#%% . . .

One example is the group Outerspace (Planetary + Warchild) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outerspacehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outerspace . Pun was a huge influence for them as latino rappers and now they are one of the greatest duo's in hip hop history.....
