while this is definitely true, there is something a lil different going on at this moment in culture/time...yes men HAVE ALWAYS been on the 'thirsty side' while women have ALWAYS tended to be on the more discerning side of things (which makes perfect sense when you think about it from an evolutionary standpoint, the penalty for a 'bad' decision in this regard are greater for women than for men). what has changed is that it used to take some modicum of effort to approach someone (this goes across the board friends, business associates, etc.), technology has gives people the tools that make communication MUCH easier and takes no effort at all to make yourself known to someone (i can imagine this could result in many females getting an inflated or deflated - depending on the amount they are or are not getting - sense of self , but women tend to be smarter about things especially in the social space)...so now that the barrier is lower (and not to mention also very visible because of the 'social' aspect of the tools) it actually makes sense that more dudes would SEEM 'thirsty' because we are just seeing more of it...

however, it does seem fairly apparent that these 'social' tools have changed the way we act towards one another...lots of research points to the FACT that we're ruder, less considerate, have less empathy for others when our interactions are not face to face...so you have people commenting & saying things they would never say were they in the presence of that person, this isn't all that new to anyone who has been on the internet, but it is starting to bleed into our real world interactions & maybe especially for folk that have come up using these tools

in sum: dudes been thirsty, it is to our advantage to be so...but interwebs make it much more easier & visible for others to see; which may be gassing folks but is definitely affecting the way we behave with each other our daily lives...

I'm not gonna go through and like every single one of a girls pictures, of course that's thirst. But if a nice pic of shorty (who I know irl, not just some random add) pops up on my newsfeed and she's doing her thing, I'll hit her with a like

Its thirsty if you like ALL the pics...its really dudes out here liking every pic a chick puts up, and commenting on half of em

And females can be just as thirsty too...the difference is that most dudes dont post pics/ announce to the world about the chick thats thirsty

I guess you are right if a certain chick is getting so much admiration on Ig/fb/twit she may be less likely to pay the guy at the mall less attention.

Social sites have not changed how I interact with people in real life.

that is an interesting point, premarital relations were definitely LESS socially acceptable earlier; so you could make a fairly reasonable quantitative argument that because giving up the 'yambz' was certainly less acceptable than it is now, that would make for a lot more really 'thirsty' cats in those days...(sidebar: it has been theorized that one main reasons 'houses of ill repute' have declined was the increase acceptability of premarital relations, there are many stories of father's taking their sons as sort of acceptable rite of passage in lieu of available 'yambz')

i think its really simple both parties are at fault in this on one side you have the girls who are so full of themselves that dont know how to take a compliment so classify everything as thirsty but then you have some guys that really dont know how to take a hint and will like every single one of your picture and comment stupid **** and even message you 100x a day and even when you tell them your interested they still try that is thirsty.
