Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Will be going to Madrid next week and I'm hoping to stop by Meermin along the way, years after I first heard about the brand on NT lol.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which last to buy, etc. Also, is the trip out there even worth it or should I stick to purchasing via online (I'm aware that there are no online returns for in-store purchases). Thanks for the tips fellas!

If you go in the store, they should be able to advise you on what last and size fits you.

Def worth the trip.

I enjoy the shape of the Elton but be forewarned, Meermin leather is stiff as sin. The quality is for sure there but god damn do these take some time to break in.

I'm outchea wearing multiple bandaids on my heels and still hurts like hell. Then again, some of my leather AEs put me through some torture too in the beginning.

I think I have a permanent bruise on my foot from my pair of Meermins. They're broken in and wearable now, but I'm never buying another pair again. I have multiple pairs of blake stitched oxfords that I bought back in 2011 that are still in great condition and have been resoled, so I'm not falling for that "you HAVE to get chunky Goodyear welt shoes" again

My Carmina's are also stiff but the break in was easier IMO. However, I've only worn my leather meermins 2-3x.

Suede joints were cake from the get go.

Glad you all came with the review on the Meermin joints. I was eyeing a brown pair but it aint worth the pain yall say they cause lol.

pinoy732 pinoy732 you say the suede ones more comfortable though?

Well see idk man. They are definitely the best quality for that price point in terms of calfskin, goodyear welting, and channel stitched soles (along with Euro-esque aesthetics). YMMV in terms of break in.

But yes, the suede ones are inherently less stiff so definitely more comfortable.

Guess i’m lucky, my meermins got comfortable on the second wear. Didn’t give me blisters or cut up my heels. Need to order a black pair. Really like that they have a couple pairs of dress shoes with rubber soles.

Hey NT!

I just wanted to re-introduce COLLEGIUM and myself to the forums. First off, to those of you who’ve supported the brand thus far, THANK YOU. For those of you who will actually take the time and read this post, I want to show my appreciation with a little gift/giveaway exclusive to the members of this thread and a discount code, IF the product interests you of course.

I’ve been part of NT for over a decade now, and this particular thread and community had been a huge catalyst for me in 2015 to start COLLEGIUM.

COLLEGIUM is a minimalistic brand that embodies everything I’ve appreciated in great products, leading with quality and the depth of stories built around the product.

Before you say, “here’s another minimalistic sneaker brands, with a focus on premium products,” take a second to hear what makes COLLEGIUM different?

Well, we break down our sneakers into 2 collections: the “Classics Series” consisting of your basic colors using 100% Genuine Italian Calf Skin leather that is hand picked by us to ensure its end-product quality (for those of you in the manufacturing business will understand what we mean by that), and next is our pride and joy, the “Triumph Series.” The Triumph Series consists of special materials that have an amazing backstory or quality that we believe contains a certain depth within itself that isn’t found in the industry today. These Triumph Series are released in more limited quantities due to the nature of the materials.

An example of our Triumph Series, is our 1970’s Repurposed Military Canvas, which we sourced authentic military canvas from the Vietnam War era. This collection is near and dear to me because during this war my parents took refuge from Laos through UNICEF and made their journey to the United States to pave a better future for my sister and I. Every pair from this collection was hand finished by me and my team, so each pair is unique and no two pairs are the same. This collection is my homage to my parent’s journey and their struggle to create the “American Dream” for their kids.

NT fam, if you made it this far in the post, I can’t thank you enough!

To show my appreciation, I’d like to giveaway a of COLLEGIUM footwear, to a lucky member of this wonderful thread. (LINK TO GIVEAWAY)

Also, if you guys would be so kind to help us, please take our quick survey (won’t take more than 5 MINUTES.) The feedback in this particular thread, whether positive or negative, is so important because of this threads detailed taste in products. Listening to you guys helps us design to the consumer and continually strive to push the culture in terms of product execution. (LINK TO SURVEY)

To thank you guys again for your time in taking the survey, we’ll also send everyone who completes the survey a 20% off code to our web-store in addition to the giveaway entry!

I tried to fill out the survey but regardless of what i enter in the image capture, it keeps saying “Image text not entered correctly”. Anyone else getting this issue? Might have to try from a tablet instead of the iPhone.

Thanks for posting the issue, took care of it and you should be able to submit it now, thanks! Appreciate you

Didn't expect to receive so much feedback and so quickly regarding my question on Meermins considering how slow the thread has been moving over the last couple months. Repped those who provided some insight and feedback.

Will try to make the pit stop and I'll report back on hopefully the good results!
