i only watched a little bit but it was bad from the outset.

Their just isn't any personality left in music, well at least the music that is typically the focus of most award shows

Theirs no one interesting to see, no one that might show up drunk and act a fool on the red carpet, the VJ's (if you can still call them that) are all bland and corny...

true, Kevin Hart isn't to blame for the VMAs flopping, but it was the corniest I've seen him (including Soul Plane). I'm sure he was handcuffed by the network and had to dumb down his jokes, catering to 13 year olds.

VMAs got the 15 min Fast Forward treatment from me. I stopped for Kevin Hart, the 2Chainz/Wayne performance (FF halfway thru Yuck), Alicia Keys cat suit and Frank Ocean. IDC, IDC, IDC. I know I'm setting myself for the obligatory Ayoo jokes, but Frank's performance shut it down. IDC, IDC, IDC

Not quite sure why Kevin Hart is even beIng mentioned at fault, chalk this up to bad timing. I didn't watch cause I was at work
 
Not Kevin Harts fault, DNC was on but Kevin Hart has to be one of the most hyped up and overrated comedians in my lifetime. I never understood it and believe me I've given the dude and his specials multiple chances. Black community loves this guy.
 
Even though Kevin Hart is a extremely corny and not even close to being funny, its still not his fault.

Having the show on the Weekday was stupid.

Even though on Sunday they would have to go up against Football, Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire at least more people would have been home to even decide.

Hart isn't the funniest comic, but Russell Brand is probably the least funniest comic today. I'd rather watch that Kevin James standup from early 2000 on a loop than anything he has to deal with. He may look really funny, but him being labelled as a "comedian" is >D

The VMAs was terrible, but to blame the ratings drop on Kevin Hart is just absurd. He wasn't a good host, but it was a very bad decision to have the show on the same night as the Democratic National Convention especially at the same time when people were anticipating Obama's speech. They should have had the show on Sunday when there wasn't anything to go up head to head with it. Poor planning by MTV execs did this, not Kevin Hart.
 
^^ Agreed. Poor planning plus the show was just terrible :x Nothing was polarizing about the show whatsoever, a bunch of mediocre artists and terrible vj's.
