Seven interesting facts about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Massage function
The S-Class' ENERGIZING massage function was designed to mimic a hot stone massage. In order to replicate the feeling of a hot stone, the S-Class' seat utilize 14 separately actuated air cushions with an integrated warming function. Available for both front and rear seat occupants, the 2014 S-Class boasts six different massage programs, two of which make use of the warming function.

Mercedes says the 2014 S-Class is the first-ever vehicle to incorporate a hot stone massage system.

Self driving
Thanks to Mercedes' latest DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, the S-Class can actually drive itself under certain circumstances. The system uses on-board cameras and radar sensors to detect lane markings and other vehicles, and is capable of braking, acceleration and even navigating moderate turns. Mercedes touts the system as the perfect solution for heavy traffic jams, but the semi-autonomous system can be used at virtually any speed.

One interesting note – in Germany DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot won't let the S-Class pass on the right as that is a major no-no in the country. In the U.S., where lane discipline is much more lax, the S-Class will motor on by any slower traffic that may be occupying the left lane.

Active perfuming system
Apparently not wanting its flagship to be adorned with pine-scented air fresheners dangling from the rear-view mirror, Mercedes has equipped the 2014 S-Class with an innovative new perfume system.

Every S-Class optioned with the system comes with one complimentary perfume canister, which typically lasts for 6,500 to 7,500 miles. A total of four different scents will be offered, each carrying a price of about $65.

The perfuming system – which is housed in the S-Class' glove box – was designed to improve the smell of the vehicle's interior and not your clothes, so you don't have to worry about the scent following you around.

Unfortunately, Mercedes doesn't have any current plans to offer 'new car smell' or 'bacon' scents.

High-tech headlights
The headlights fitted to the new S-Class are some of the most advanced we've ever come across. Each unit features its own mini computer which controls state-of-the-art technology like Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus – which allows the car's highbeams to stay on continuously by “masking out” other vehicles on the road – and Night View Assist Plus (essentially night vision for the road).

Mercedes hasn't released any pricing info for the new S-Class, but we were told each headlight unit carries a price tag of at least $1,500.

Magic carpet ride
The S-Class is the world's first vehicle to use “eyes” to control its suspension settings.

A pair of cameras mounted on the S-Class' windshield continuously scan the road ahead for imperfections, with that information sent along to the vehicle's MAGIC BODY CONTROL system. If a new road condition is detected – such as an expansion joint or a pot hole – MAGIC BODY CONTROL can instantaneously adjust the suspension to the perfect setting, allowing for the smoothest possible ride.

Prius-beating economy
The S-Class will initially launch with a twin-turbocharged V8, but more fuel efficient models are on the way, including the S 500 Plug-in Hybrid.

Although Mercedes is keeping the technical details of the S 500 Plug-in under wraps, the German automaker promise the big luxury sedan will emit fewer than 75 grams of CO2 per km, which roughly translates to 72mpg. If those figures hold up, the 4,500+ pound S 500 Plug-in will be more efficient than the Toyota Prius.

LEDs
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the first-ever 'bulbless' car, but just how many LEDs did it take to pull that off?

Headlights: 56 LEDs

Taillights: 35 LEDs, plus 4 LEDs for the rear fog lamp

Interior: Somewhere around 300 LEDs

Imagine you're on a date with a dope little chick and before you drop her off at her crib yall sit in the whip and talk.

Hit those lights and shorty is giving it up within 3 min

I swear ever since those first pics of the interior popped up I've been thinkin bout scenarios like that bruh!!
