airjordanjack the "macro" shot works because of shallow depth of feild so when you take a picture of something with that concept in mind, aesthetically it works because they is something in the distance not in focus... i.e. something (usually very up close) (foreground) is in really sharp focus and the background is blurred or out of focus. basically what I'm saying is try to have a back ground... the 1st achieves it the best but I think its the least promising photograph of the 3.
With the flowers I would employ perhaps a horizon line or least some more depth in the photograph, but still go with the shallow focus. shoot them at their heigh rather than just pointing the camera down on them.
With soldiers, I think toys and the like prespective is much more interesting, because you can make them seem larger or more life like with various angles i.e. like low to the ground looking upward..
