***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Kelly went out there today, put on a display and used his sons death to help Trump escape a situation that he caused.

so you think in deep in your heart General Kelly used his dead son as a political ace card to protect Trump? :Lol

nah b, even i aint that politically cynical.

Congress Woman listened in to a personal call between da president and a gold star wife to try to play it against Trump, and she burned her hand on da stove by Kelly telling was really good.

As more Republicans choose to not run for reelection, the choice in the direction of the country couldn't be clearer. On one hand (right) you have full blown extremists, and on the other, you have everything else. 2018 will be pivotal when it comes to the future of the country.

those GOP members retiring aren't scared of dems, they're scared of being primary'ed from da right.

(insurgency vs establishment)

Came in here expecting the typical Trump basing in re: Gold star family phone call, but was pleased/surprised that everyone is pretty much agreeing that the media/this congresswoman decided to make this situation 1000x worse than it needed to be.

Wonder if the outsourced contractors were part of Erik Prince's (Betsy DeVos brother) security company?

Prince currently heads a private equity firm called Frontier Resource Group and is chairman of Frontier Services Group Ltd, a Bermuda-incorporated logistics and transport company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Frontier Services Group is backed by China's state-owned CITIC Group and Hong Kong-based investor Chun Shun Ko. Prince's ventures advise and support Chinese investment in oil and gas in Africa.

As part of Prince's Africa-focused investment strategy, Frontier Services Group purchased stakes in two Kenyan aviation companies, Kijipwa Aviation and Phoenix Aviation, to provide logistics services for the country's oil and gas industry. In October 2014, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority denied Kijipwa Aviation an aviation license renewal.

Prince also purchased a 25% stake in Austrian aviation company Airborne Technologies. In 2014, Prince commissioned the company to modify Thrush 510G crop-dusters with surveillance equipment, machine guns, armor, and other weapons, including custom pylons that could mount either NATO or Russian ballistics. One of the modified crop-dusters was delivered to Salva Kiir Mayardit's forces in South Sudan shortly before a contract with Frontier Services Group was cancelled. Frontier Services Group owns two of the modified Thrush 510Gs, but since executives learned the craft had been weaponized by Prince, the company has declined to sell or use the aircraft to avoid violating U.S. export controls.

THE BEST PEOPLE!

Rep. Tom Marino has withdrawn his nomination as President Trump's new drug czar after revelations he pushed through a measure that worsened the U.S. opioid epidemic. White-collar criminologist Bill Black says Marino and other lawmakers have been bought off by pharmaceutical companies he says have acted as "illicit, criminal, drug dealers"

That Niger story is so messed up man...there'd already be half a dozen hearings and committees set up if that was under Obama. Whoever called it Trump a Bengazi had the right idea but there seems to be even more dimensions to this story than that...

They really just left dude behind to fend for himself that long, guess that 'no man left behind' crap only counts for certain men...:smh:

The incompetence + the weeks passed before the WH even acknowledged makes this a pretty damn huge scandal all things considered but they've somehow hijacked the narrative and focused it on some he said she said BS that only works to hurt the families affected even more |l

The GOP never actually cared about Benghazi.
There were some justified reasons to investigate but yea in practice and the way they dragged it out, It was definitely more of political theatre and a witch hunt specifically designed to inflict maximum political damage at their likely 2016 challenger, Hillary, which they lowkey succeeded in...

This Niger business should be rightfully treated as a big deal though, the mission sounds like a complete and utter disaster with breakdowns and incompetence from all angles. All of which ended up costing lives but obviously the manbaby has more pressing matters to address such as getting some more rounds of golf in and disrespecting grieving gold star families...

So one of our Flemish news organizations decided to test the security of our nation's main firearm storage facility and the results were pretty damn sad and dangerous.
When any law enforcement confiscates or receives voluntarily surrendered firearms (like my firearms I turned over to police), the overwhelming majority of them are transfered from the local police firearms unit to a large weapons depot facility in the city Luik (Liège in French). That facility stores all those weapons in order to destroy them later. The destruction process is also done by that facility, hence why almost all these firearms are transfered there.
At the time of this reporting, roughly 10000 firearms were in storage there, from hunting guns to fully automatic rifles, machineguns, military grade weaponry, ...

Back to the original point; one of our news organizations (VTM news) sent in one of their reporters Faroek Özgünes to test the security of that facility. He is also a terrorism expert.
VTM decided to launch this investigation in light of anonymous complaints about the security of that facility from presumed employees.
Much to the surprise of VTM and especially the reporter, he was able to simply walk in that facility. At no point was he asked who he was, what he was doing there, why he was there, ...
He simply walked in there and went all the way to the firearm storage with zero security. He did not set foot in the actual storage room as that would be very illegal but there was nothing preventing him from doing so. He could've simply opened the door, grabbed a couple firearms he could hide and walked right back out the facility.
So after a quick inspection of the storage room from the outside, noting all kinds of firearms in plain sight, he simply walked back out the facility just as easily as he walked in.

The reporter's visit was never registered by security at any point and absolutely nothing prevented him from casually walking in and out of the largest weapons depot in the country and just walking around inspecting the inside of the facility.

An investigation has been launched into the facility's security immediately after this reporting but it begs the question, how long has this been going on? If a random person can just walk in there in 2017 with zero security checks, would he have been the only one? It would seem unlikely to me that there hasn't been any theft from that facility if there is literally zero security.
