OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET AND ECONOMY THREAD VOL. A NEW CHAPTER

Amc goes up. They halt it, it goes down. Then it opens, it goes up. Then they halt it. It's happened several times today. Imagine they didn't restrict it.

movie theaters priced themselves out of the market.

the busiest ones by me are the ones that show movies before they get released at home for two bucks and popcorn for 5 bucks.

nobody is trying to spend 200 bucks to take the family to shrek 16.

If A Quiet Place 2 was available to stream at home, so would have paid the $19.99 instead of going to a theater. Add to the fact that a majority of the movies being out out these days are pure garbage, I am not a big believer in the long term of AMC. But more than happy to ride this for now.
But that’s nearly half of a adult ticket though
Some folks would brush that off as a convenience fee
Hell not even that you would pay more than $20 on tickets alone if you were going on a date or a group

How many kids you think most people have? Lol

Before Covid, the AMC by me was almost always busy.

Can you imagine if the only way to watch Infinity War/End Game would have been through streaming? Nothing beats being a part of the opening night crowd reactions.

I don’t know like 4?

I agree with you but I don’t think they are as busy as they used to be.

Unless you’re filthy rich and have a $50K home theatre setup, nothing will ever replicate the movie experience. I’m not saying that AMC stock is worth $65. What I’m saying is that AMC or theatres, for that matter, are not going out of business contrary to what hedge funds wanted you to believe. This was never about fundamentals. It was about betting against the hedge funds, who some of you seem to have a strange love affair with. Wall Street is filled with crooks. It’s about time they get a taste of their own medicine, and I am more than happy to take part in taking money out of their pockets. **** em.

No doubt this is about squeezing the shorts. And hey when all the dust settles, maybe I will have enough for a legit home theater setup that mirrors the experience. We can all dream right

Theaters probably aren't gonna die completely anytime soon. But streaming is eating into their revenue more and more, covid probably accelerated that trend.

With decreasing revenue and no plans for an overhaul in the business model idk why you would want to invest money in theaters.

This is just price manipulation on the back of rampant speculation.

450 million shares outstanding, 650 million traded today and the market isn't even closed yet.

Who's holding and who's churning?

So... who’s the next stock to cost them billions?

I find this hilarious and need to throw a couple hundred on the next one.

The uncomfortable truth is that these hedge funds are going to be ok
I don’t buy into these whole sticking it to the man narrative
its a opportunity to capitalize and make money nothing more nothing less :lol::lol::lol:

it’s people on the sidelines that dont feel any way about who wins or who looses
**** like this happens everyday it’s just now it’s a company you have a familiarity with

I mean some people love movie theaters and then you have people like me who hate them. Like I hate hearing people screaming cheering and clapping after something in the middle of the movie. I want to listen and watch the movie not the people. Considering the price of entrance, drinks, and food; I’ll gladly pay $20-$50 to have my own food and watch on my big screen TV with friends family and/or the significant other. Not to mention, lots of movie theaters have been infested with bed bugs over the last few years before covid.

I worked for a place back in the day who bought a porn movie theater to fix up. Place was disgusting.

found a bunch of cool old **** the the basement but it was all ruined by mold.

here’s how it looks now.

If you are going to imply that streaming movies from home is going to kill movie theatres, then wouldn’t that also mean that people would stop attending live sporting events? You can watch the game at home for free, don’t have to pay for parking, food and beer are cheaper, and you will get a better POV. But yet, people still go to games. Why is that?
