I couldn't take it anymore and went to Wolf of Wall Street last night.

Beautiful.

Absolutely, 100%, unbelievable. Loved it. Every second.

Despite everyone's jokes on my age, I was not old enough to go see Goodfellas in theaters. Sitting there last night, I felt like I was watching history. Something that will be revered for decades, just like Goodfellas.

Leo was out ******g standing. I know for some reason the Oscar folks hate him or something, but they better think long and hard this year. (he still won't win, cuz they're a bunch of tools) but his performance was ELITE.

The speeches, the inner dialogue, the performances, the pills kickin in when he was on the phone     Perfection.

No one lied, that 3 hours FLEW by. I was enthralled.

Jonah Hill did a really good job too. Props to him. The chick was hot as hell, my God, the scene where she kept throwin water on him, the way she looked in that scene >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Loved Coach Taylor. :pimp:

That story was WILD as hell. Surely had to be embellished somewhat, but awesome storytelling nonetheless.

When this hits Blu, it goes on my shelf right next to Goodfellas and Casino and I'll watch any of the 3 the same way, anytime.

Fincher attached to Gone Girl :smokin

glad you enjoyed Wolf, CP. definitely a great job by everyone involved.

Ryan Gosling is directing now? :nerd: Probably the thing that caught me most off guard about that list.

He coming for your neck Affleck! Still in his prime and directing? Sheeeeeeeiiiiiiiittttttt

 I swear some of you guys can't possibly like movies... I kid I kid...

Yo CP... I think I can across your car man... Great job parking that thing. Can't be easy backing that thing into a spot. Changing lanes & parallel parking has to be a pain though...

1000

Bale's expression when Lawrence's Rosalyn is telling him they're not getting divorced & asking him to come to bed is priceless. To be able to produce facial expressions like that as an actor is a gift. :smokin

1000

Edit - Michael Pena isn't in enough movies...

American Hustle was whimsical from the name to the plot. At times I felt the soundtrack was the only saving grace of the movie but for the most part Cooper, Bale, and Adams saved this. Very convincing strong roles but nothing I haven't seen from Bale or Adams before and Cooper continues to show with good writing he can be consistently good and has the potential for greatness.

Renner and Lawrence were forgettable in this and not really worthy of mention.

 @ Louie showing up

 @ Eli being in this and almost being unrecognizable in his small role. I found it funny that it was him bringing up something about AC.

Overall, AH is an okay movie. I can see the similarities and what it's taken from better movies but this is in no way a ripoff of anything, just the poor man's version.

On another note, since Cooper comes to mind. I saw The Words a few months ago and I don't think I talked about it in here, Cooper was strong in that too. I really liked the story more than anything else and how layered it was. Irons and Quaid do their thing. I loved the story more than anything else. Fake out trying to advertise this like Wilde was really in it. The french wife and Zoe

Jennifer Lawrence, was forgettable, in American Hustle?

Jennifer Lawrence?

In American Hustle?

You sure you saw the right movie? You sure you didn't watch America Hustle or something?

Jennifer was FAR from unforgettable in that movie. She was superior to Cooper and it wasn't even close. Bale and Amy outshined her, but forgettable?

You caught the wrong movie I think.

If anything the script for American Hustle is a little weak but the whole movie is saved by outstanding performances from every actor including Lawrence. Like I mentioned above, some of the actors give such nuanced performances that I found incredible.

Her character was just the annoying New Jersey housewife to me. She was good for a laugh but it got old pretty quick. I was way more in to Irving's story line and what was going down with Edith and Richie.

I mean she did the role well but her character was forgettable for me. Like I wouldn't recommend this movie and one of the first things I'd say is Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in it.

the way way back was terrible... completely let down...

The Way Back is a 2 hour movie of watching people walk. SMH @ the high reviews on Netflix
Different movies

The struggle in The Way Back is real though :smokin I will admit the first time I saw it I thought it was amazing but now when I catch it on tv it's not as hard hitting and powerful the first time around. Ed Harris, Sturgess, and Ronan did their thing.

Farrell was okay. I tend to like him in other roles though.

I didn't really give an in depth review just some opinions overall.

For me it goes either way, it's either the plot was good or the writing at times throughout. I agree the actors saved this overall but I was actually curious about where a few characters would end up but then again that could just be their acting making me care and not the plot on it's own.

 didn't know there was another movie.

Some things just pissed me off though. How they survived for that long is beyond unrealistic, and the decision to ignore advice and unnecessarily go through the Himalayas during the winter :smh:

I mean......that was her role, no? She didn't sign up to play a mob boss, she was hired to be a New Jersey housewife. Guess what, she's not a real New Jersey housewife, yet she did a pretty damn good convincing portrayal of one.

You see her as Katniss, and then this role, and tell me she didn't nail the **** out of that? Really? She knocked that thing outta the park man.

I get this is all opinion for you and I, and I hear ya, but I was amazed by her. Granted, Bale and Adams captured me more than she did, but they also had much more screen time and juicy plot points to play with. For her role, her job, her scenes, she was perfect. Even better than Cooper and damn sure better than Renner or the actual Mob Boss. (not sure how many know he's in this film, haven't seen anyone mention his name yet even  )

Am I the only one who thinks Renner has such a weak presence in films outside of the Hurt Locker?

To me if anyone's "forgettable" it'd be him.

Did he do a nice job with his role in American Hustle? Sure. But did he ever stand out as a star among Bale, Lawrence, Cooper, or Adams? Not in the least bit imo.

I feel like he's very fortunate to be getting the roles he's being offered compared to the other stars in AH. His on screen presence is not nearly the same as the others.

He just comes off so boring to me, but I don't hate the guy. His role in the Bourne franchise was SO BORING after seeing Damon absolutely kill his role... I cannot believe he's getting a sequel. I guess box office numbers are all that matters. I don't hate the guy, Just being honest. Dude should not be getting super star roles like he's getting IMO. He's a good actor, but he doesn't have the charisma to carry films to me.

Renner is one of those actors that pretty much sucks in every role..or if he doesnt suck its just..very "ok?"

But yet he finds a way into a ******** of films. Guess you can say that for 90% of actors tho

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Renner.

I was beginning to question my own judgment of acting... Like is this dude really as good as people say he is? Cuz I've been consistently underwhelmed by him.

I forgot about The Town though, you're right... I'll give him that one too, He played his role well there.

He was extremely forgetful in Ghost Protocol, as well as The Avengers. Probably the most boring "super hero" in history... You know it's bad when ScarJo outshines you

Don't even get me started on that Hansel and Grettle trash...

Anything I've ever seen Renner in (and I haven't seen Hurt Locker), you could easily replace him with any other actor and the movie would be exactly the same (or maybe even better, depending on who the replacement was).
