Yeah...I see it as just being like piercings, but more committed and with a way bigger variety available. You don't get piercings because they 'mean something', you get them because you like how they look on your body. If your tattoo means something to you, sick, but if you just like the way it looks, that's cool too because it's YOUR body, YOU are the one who has to see yourself naked every day, so do what you like. Personally, every once in a while, I start itching for something different to look at in the mirror, so I dye my hair, or I'll grab a piercing. Not like I can't just take it out. Tattoos are for when I've wanted something specific for AGES, and I'm ready to have it on my bod forever.

Only person's opinion I care about in regards to tattoos/piercings will be my future hubby, because he'll have to see me nekkid all the time too. Other than that, I couldn't care less.

I'm about to get a my first tat soon. I was wondering, any one you get a tat on your shoulder/outer bicep area and were able to play sports (basketball) the next day? I've been reading that you should wait three days at the minimum, but what if I rock some underarmour type steeze and then a tshirt over top?

dont wear anything that will be pressing on the tattoo. for one, it's going to hurt. you'll most likely be sore. two, the paint is going to smear all over w/e you're wearing and probably take out more color than it should. also, the sweat WILL make it burn. i'd honestly stay away from any heavy sport for at least 3-4 days. better if it's a week. that's what i did, but im not an expert. also, a tattoo FULLY heals in about a month. try to stay away from direct sunlight for longs periods of time

I can deal with the pain or whatever, I just don't wanna mess the tattoo...

yeah i wouldn't wear any under armour on a fresh tattoo. do u HAVE to play basketball? i'd lay back on it until you've gotten to the peeling stage (about 4 days in)

^ Depending on the size, I'd think you'd be fine. I've looked around the net and alot of people say "sweating out the ink" isn't really possible/it's a myth. The main concern is if it scabs and you somehow hit/break the scab, you might be left with a colorless patch/scar which would suck but I don't see that happening with track.

^^^Ive hit the gym the next day after getting inked....if you manage to scrape off some of the ink which is pretty hard they'll usually retouch it for you.

ended up going with a small discrete script rather than a big one on the separate arm. I really like how it turned out!
