This is ******* CRAZY. I read this the other day and couldn't believe it. I don't know if this speaks more to the rapidly rising housing costs in the DMV, or if Alford, is indeed, insane.

And you think your drive to work is bad?
A Virginia man commutes 220 miles -- or about seven hours -- each day, all in the name of family.
Thurmond Alford began working what he calls his "dream job" in Washington, D.C., about 12 years ago. The problem? Everyone he loves is in Richmond, Virginia.
So he chose to have the best of both worlds. But at a cost.
"Every two weeks I was changing oil." Alford told CBS News. "The guy at Jiffy Lube ... He knew my first name. He knew my football team."
His commute begins at 4 a.m. each day.
First, Alford drives from Richmond to Fredericksburg, Virginia. Then he grabs a ride with a friend to Arlington before taking not one, but two trains into downtown Washington.
