I'm just curious what all the NTers who argue that guns aren't the problem, mental illness is and that without curing psychoses that people will find other means to mass kill.
guns provide a sense of "power" that makes it easier to kill
The article above suggests the fact that there are as many people as guns contributes more than mental illness does.No ONE thing is the problem, true, but some things contribute MORE to the problem.
Responding a week later to post that? Weak.i cant afford to live in a hypothetical world where all mental health is "cured"......lmao the article says fact vs myth....and is based on the premise that all mental health is "healed"
"b-b-but a professor at duke wrote this!"
I agree with everything you're saying.so Nako XL, realistically, in your opinion, what's the solution?
The way I see it, Pandora's box has already been open for the last 120 years. There are over 300 million guns in this country.
FWIW, one thing you haven't mentioned is the fact that mass shooting/school shooting events make up an almost statistically insignificant number of gun deaths in the America. About half of gun deaths are suicide, that is absolutely a mental health issue.
As far as violence committed against other people, economic policies, housing discrimination, quality of education and disparity of wealth would probably have more influence than so called "universal background checks"
But that's not at all realistic....
