People talking about a marketing ploy must not realize even people at Def Jam (the marketing team) didnt know.

They're thank you's...he's already in a full scale, big picture mindset - he's a songwriter!...do u know how easily he could of intentionally planned to troll us and flip the script
and say  the "him" he was referring to is music. "The come out" ("The decision"

) was well written but still vague enough that it could apply to music.

"4 summers ago, I met somebody" [music]
"We spent that summer together and the summer after. Everyday almost." [music]
"Time would glide." [music!!!!!]
"I'd hear his conversation and his silence until it was time to sleep [music!!!!]
"It was hopeless...no escaping...no negotiating..."  [music!!! Once you're into creating music it takes over your u ]
"I reminisced about the songs I enjoyed as a teenager... I realized they were in a language I didn't speak yet [music]
"He wouldn't tell me the truth about his feelings for me for another 3 years. I felt like I only imagined his reciprocity for years."
[You got a love for something but you're looking for and u wont that acknowledgment and success. He was demoing for Def Jam but his solo +%@+, him an artist, was on the back burner.]
"I kept up a peculiar friendship because I couldn't imagine keeping up my life without him [music]
"I'll remember who I was when I met you." [Music. His Career is taking off...he wont forget his artistry or compromise]

Damn near most of that thank u, u could apply to music. Maybe I'm reaching...maybe I'm not

If he's gay...It is what it is...it wont change his music.

Sexual orientation aint ever cross my mind when listening to music. I'm listening for craft.
Naw, your def reaching.
yes. reaching. shut up.

The same people who didn't know about Frank until he dropped his mixtape.

Uh, yeah...  Because Jay-z isn't a bigot and has spoken out in favor of marriage equality.

Or because both of them play for both teams...

He said that his open letter was written in December 2011 with a view to include it in the album sleeve notes in order to pre-empt speculation that might arise from some of its songs addressing men. “I knew that I was writing in a way that people would ask questions,” he said. “I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who knows when.”

The Odd Future member also downplayed the risk in his coming out. “People are just afraid of things too much … Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I’m black. They could do the same just because I’m American.”

I've always thought Frank Ocean was overrated (except in hooks & choruses). But I tried to give it time, but I just couldn't get into his music.

Maybe cause of the era of Rap/R&B I grew up in, but even by heterosexual standards...his music is too soft for me. I'd rather listen to a female R&B artist cover the subject matter he does in his songs. This being said the speculation of him singing love songs to other men doesn't surprise me, nor does the acceptance from society he would receive for it if he was.

Son.....his lyrics took over a whole new meaning.

Nature Feels

"I've been meaning to @*## you in the garden
Been breathing so hard we both could use the oxygen
Just hop on my back I'll take you down the stairs
Into my backyard then lay you right on the grass"

Swim Good

"that's a pretty big trunk
on my lincoln town car ain't it
big enough to take these broken hearts
and put em in it..
now i'm driving round
on the boulevard trunk bleeding"

Uhhhh.....

Dude is bisexual. For your sake, just imagine it as him singing about a woman

Frank Ocean is one of my favorite artists out. I was and still am very much anticipating this album. However, I would be lying if I said that his songs didn't take on a new meaning to me. Read his letter then listen to Thinking Bout You and I can almost guarantee it will not be the same.

Yes, of course

I remember, how could I forget?

How you feel.

And though you were my first time

A new feel

It won’t ever get old, not in my soul

Not in my spirit, keep it alive

We’ll go down this road

‘Til it turns from color to black and white

As a matter of fact the entire song is about how his relationship grew with dude.
