What do you do for a living?

Right now I'm talking with a traveling agency and will be doing it as soon as they find something in the areas I want to work. They will give you a stipend for housing and food which will be tax free, but pay you a low hourly wage which will be taxed. They pay weekly and from what I was told the average is 1200-1500 weekly with room to increase pay the more you travel. I have a Georgia and Alabama license right now and will probably get other state licenses if it's something I want to do for a while.
That's the same deal with the aviation field that im in, i get cold calls from different contracting company for aerospace jobs around the country. i get calls 2-3x a week. 12-1800 per diem tax free and somewhere between 14-18/hr, if you go over 40 is broken down to per diem and hr somewhere around 28-30/hr taxed. But im in the process of get my A&p license i only got experience under my belt. Hoping to land a job somewhere in the middle east after work for the Saudi Royals hear they make good money out there.

Congrats.
I couldnt even pass CPAT...lol.
You gotta be kidding me bro lol. Thats a cake walk

I know. Believe me I was upset at myself, but Ive made peace with it. I work 60-80 hours a week so I didnt get to train the way I wanted to. I also have asthma (that I didnt disclose) which is an automatic disqualifier. It wouldve caught up to me sooner or later.

That's my guy Gil, we went to high school together at Loomis. His lil' bro Eric went there too and both them boys went Ivy for undergrad and grad school.

Just had drinks with him and his wife at my bar a couple weeks ago. So damn proud of dude, one of the smartest, most humble human beings I know.

Yep he is humble and smart

Props to him

I see his mom at La Fitness

I do minor IT stuff for my university. Ex. Fix computers for faculty and staff lol. I'm still a student though majoring in history (yea I'm gonna be unemployed when I graduate). Pay is 11/her so if say I have it pretty good for a college student.

Pretty good salary for ohio. How many years of experience do you have? I just finished my first year as a software engineer.

Actually would say I got lucky. When I first got hired I had just graduated with a BBA degree with a major in CIS. No engineering degree no engineering experience. I have since went back and got my MBA and a PMP certification hence why im so desperate to switch careers.

That's a good way to make the switch. I plan on getting a MBA and PMP cert in the future. I can see why you hate being a software engineer, I was a CS major and I don't even like it. Pays well, but it is extremely boring.

@sugafree  PM sent.

I think it's interesting enough (I am bored at work too). I also want to know what people are doing on here. I think to give some sort of credibility, you'd have to put your age down.

I am an insurance underwriter. I make quotes for brokers who are looking to place insurance with their customers in a specific market. It's as corporate as can be. I am scraping a little over $80k but in San Francisco, that is pretty much making $50K 10 years ago.

what other license do you need other than CPCU to do this, if any?

What do u hate about it
Mainly that I've been doing it for 4 years and since being hired I've gotten my MBA and PMP and just looking to get a job on more of the business side. I don't get to travel much and sitting in front cpu in a cube day after day troubleshooting and coding applications has just gotten mundane to me. The pay being great for my age(27) is what keeps me sane and able to do it.

This I really motivating seeing all the potential here. I'm in the water treatment industry, 25 with no formal education (though I have some technical schooling). I could make 75k by 30. I'm not complacent by any means but I don't feel like going to get a degree.

I hear you. Sitting in the cube with a computer in your face for 8 hrs a day gets very tiring after a while. I never gave thought about going back to school but may have to do the certification route if it ends up going that way.

i LOVE my job but ****** part time hours with a dr who doesnt know how to manage her office.Im not a school guy so im just getting experience as of now..:rolleyes

What's a good major to take on in this time? Later on I plan on going to get a second degree to become a mental therapist, but that's like 10 more years of school [emoji]128529[/emoji]

IT has so many nuanced fields you can def find something your interested in, disadvantage (even though I don't see it as one) is that you must always keep learning and keep up with technology, I love it, the more you learn the more you realize you don't know

Electrical Engineer in the consulting industry. I don't love it or hate it. It pays very well when you have a PE and you can let your nuts hang a little bit.

I work in the marketing department for one of the largest manufacturers of fire engines worldwide. I do alot of photography of the different stages of production and design marketing materials, shirts, and designed our company's calendar this year.

I'm a Transit Service Development Specialist for one of the larger public transit systems in the bay area. Mid 50s, 28 in July.

Basically, if you've ever seen a bus timetable and see the times, I create those times to make sure the buses run on time. I also plan where the buses go, what stops they take for ease of operation and safety, etc. I also do special event express bus planning and scheduling.
