What should I do? Vol. iPhone repair

I took a iPhone to to a repair shop to get the back cover fixed.When I went to pick it up, it wasn't charging anymore. Dude said it was not my fault but didn't admit it was his.Wanted to charge me at least parts but I said I'm not paying for it. Hasn't fixed it yet.

i know stupid question but have you tried charging it from different power outlets/USB ports? different cables? etc?

Yeah dude has tried everything in the store, I haven't gotten it back since he hasn't been able to fix it I guess.

I want to just take it from him and take it somewhere else but I'm not going to pay him and I know he's not just going to let me take it.

It's an old iPhone 3G that I'm fixing because I have a buyer.

It Was an old 3G he was just suppose to change the back cover, he charges 50 for that.

Didn't even cross my mind to take it to apple to be honest.
