them Boys SKRONG tho.

Okay, so logos on gloves or school hand motions are unsportsmanlike? So if my school scores a touchdown against the other team is that unsportsmanlike because we pushed them around and beat them to the endzone?

NCAA is wack.
Historic weekend ahead for the ACC
September, 12, 2011

By Heather Dinich

As far as big weekends go in the ACC, this one will be historic.

Never before has the conference hosted four nationally ranked opponents on the same weekend. Never before has the ACC had so many opportunities to make a statement on the national level. The ACC has only once hosted three ranked nonconference opponents, and that was in its first year of existence, on Nov. 21, 1953.

Melina Vastola/US PresswireCoach Jimbo Fisher and FSU face Oklahoma in the biggest game of a huge weekend for the ACC.
This. One. Is. Big.

This Saturday, Florida State hosts No. 1 Oklahoma. Maryland hosts No. 18 West Virginia. Clemson hosts No. 21 Auburn. And Miami hosts No. 17 Ohio State.

Consider Sept. 17 monumental for the ACC’s reputation.

No game is bigger, though, than the one in Tallahassee. One of the biggest components that has been lacking on the ACC’s resume in recent years has been a national title contender. With Florida State and Miami muddling their way through mediocrity, Virginia Tech has carried the burden of that challenge -- and fumbled it several times. Now, as the Seminoles are surging in only the second season under coach Jimbo Fisher, there is a chance – a chance – Florida State can carry that banner again.

All they have to do is knock off the No. 1 team in the nation.

At the very least, Florida State needs to keep it close, entertaining and take it to the fourth quarter -- unlike last year, when the Sooners beat FSU in every phase of the game en route to a 47-17 win.

Florida State will take center stage, but Clemson is facing the defending national champs, Auburn. Clemson was the only team to take Auburn into overtime last season, but Clemson let Auburn rally from a 17-0 deficit. Both teams have changed significantly since then, but Auburn has already defeated a ranked opponent this season, while Clemson has struggled to beat both Troy and Wofford.

(Translated: Clemson might not be the ACC’s best hope this weekend.)

Maryland, however, stands a fighting chance against West Virginia.

The Terps should be confident from their win against Miami, and they have had a bye week to correct their mistakes -- namely in the red zone, where they came away with one touchdown on seven trips. Quarterback Danny O’Brien is one of the best in the ACC, and he had the up-tempo, no-huddle offense flowing smoothly. This will be a bigger test than their opener, though, and a better gauge of what the team is capable of this season.

And then there’s the so-called IneligiBowl, Miami vs. Ohio State.

This game has definitely lost some of its luster because of the NCAA suspensions for both teams, Miami’s season-opening loss, and Ohio State’s lackluster performance in an unconvincing win against Toledo. It would be a much more meaningful game for the ACC had both teams been full strength, but considering Boston College lost at home to Northwestern’s backup quarterback, beating a ranked Big Ten team would be good. Very good.

We’ve talked about this weekend all offseason. It seemed like it couldn’t get here soon enough. Fans are ready for it, but is the ACC?

Did the expectations of greatness come too fast for Florida State? Will Clemson be able to overcome its youth and sweeping changes after just two weeks? Is Maryland a contender in the first-season under Randy Edsall? Can Al Golden regroup, limit the turnovers and avoid the same fate as his predecessor against the Buckeyes?

ACC fans have waited too long. It’s time for the conference to finally answer.

I like Jimbo Fisher and I don't like Bob Stoops.

Ergo, I will cheer for FSU.

Pretty sure Bray is gonna carve us up. We don't pressure the QB and have a young secondary.

Gonna pound the ball, manage the clock, and keep them off the field.

Crazy slate of games coming up for the ACC but you just KNOW we're gonna @@!@ the bed like we do every year.

I would be ecstatic if FSU and Miami could win. Clemson and MD would be icing on the cake.

Acc has lost 32 of 33 games to non conference opponents ranked in the top 5...

Brantley gonna have to do more than complete 12 swing passes to beat the Vols.

That's all I gotta say about that
